"I wasn't st-staring!"
Lacey blushed a bit, turning her face away from his briefly and finally breaking her touch facade that she had been putting up since she had first begun to speak to him that evening. "I didn't even say that it was in that sorta way. You were just lookin' at me."
"Well, it would be a good idea ta head over to 'Hattan ta check up on things there. Ask Kelly if he's heard anything about Queens."
Although for a moment it had seemed as though Spot was going to say something else, it seemed as though he had decided that it wasn't a good idea. She slowly nodded, ready to leave right then if that was what he wanted. She just didn't want to run away right then to Manhattan and look stupid if that wasn't what he meant. She, for one, did care about looking good for the leader. She didn't care about many people's opinions... Although Spot was the leader. If she didn't care about his opinion, then she wouldn't have been a newsie anyway.
"Right now? Or tomorrow? Because I'll go now if that's what you mean." Of course, there was always the possibility of something bad happening, but she was from Brooklyn. She knew how to defend and protect herself better than most girls in New York. She had been practically raised on the streets. She knew what she was doing after so long. Plus, Manhattan was a much tamer place when it came to bad things happening than Brooklyn and Queens were, so she wasn't too worried about that.

"I didn't even say that it was in that sorta way. You were just lookin' at me."
Spot felt his ears turn red and mumbled, "Well... I wasn't staring..."
"Right now? Or tomorrow? Because I'll go now if that's what you mean."
He couldn't deny that he was impressed with Laney. Most of his birds usually waited until the next day to run their errands. Very few actually asked for clarification.
He glanced up at the evening sky. It wasn't too dark, but by the time she got to Manhattan it would be late. Not that he was worried about what would happen to her. Manhattan was a pretty tame borough. Even more so after the Delancy brothers were taken care of. No, he knew that it would be hard to find Jack in the late evening. He wasn't sure how well Lacey knee Jack so he'd rather not send her on a wild goose chase. Especially not if Jack was having a date night with Sarah. Spot it made a slight face at the thought of the couple, but at least Jack wasn't overly lovey dovey and stayed on task.

"Well... I wasn't staring..."
Lacey raised an eyebrow. While there were quite a few comments that she could have made, she decided that it would probably be better for everyone if she just kept her mouth shut and didn't argue with him.
Watching Spot as his facial expressions changed was quite amusing to the girl, seeing him go from looking slightly surprised, to thoughtful, to slightly grossed out about something. She couldn't help the smile that was now evident on her features, now finding that it was her turn to stare at him. "So... Tonight? Or tomorrow?" She asked, suddenly realizing that the boy didn't seem to be forming a reply.
Taking in his appearance, Spot was looking slightly red. His cheeks and his ears had the faintest hint of a blush, and she suddenly realized that it could have been because she had pointed out the fact that he had been staring at her and assessing her appearance... Something along those lines. The blush gave him a slightly childish look, although at the same time, it made him look older and more mature. She didn't really know how it was possible - perhaps it was the lack of food beginning to get to her - but it seemed to work out for him quite well. While she would never say this out loud, it was... Cute. Something that Spot wasn't very often. Plus, it gave her a chance to see a slightly more human side of the Brooklyn leader.

"So... Tonight? Or tomorrow?"
Spot found himself blinking in surprise. He had been so caught up in his thinking that he had forgotten to respond.
"Tomorrow," he said hastily, inwardly scolding himself for getting lost in thought. "Jackie-boy is probably off wit' his goil tanight. Might not be able ta find him."
After all, Jack could be as slippery as Spot when it came to avoiding people when they wanted alone time.
Which reminded him that he probably should take a visit to Staten Island. It had been awhile. Thunder was getting a little tired of meeting up in 'Hattan and Brooklyn. And well, of course there was Jasper too. Jasper certainly shouldn't be walking so far depart claiming he was perfectly fine.

"Tomorrow."
Lacey nodded, a bit relieved about getting to get some sleep that night before she would have to do anything. She wasn't overly fond of the idea of running around alone at night looking for someone that she barely knew to talk to him about something that Spot needed to talk to him about. She would do it, absolutely, but she wasn't going around looking for opportunities to do so.
"Jackie-boy is probably off wit' his goil tanight. Might not be able ta find him."
Lacey laughed, "No, I could find 'im. Finding people's what I do. Just may not wanna find 'im." She smiled slightly. Something about Spot told her that he was obviously lost in thought, most likely thinking about something that he wouldn't want to talk to her about, so she didn't pry. Instead, she just continued walking, nothing else escaping her lips as she forced herself to remain silent and glance around at the scenery. Brooklyn really was beautiful... She knew that. She just never really took the time to soak it all in.

"No, I could find 'im. Finding people's what I do. Just may not wanna find 'im."
Spot cocked his head slightly. If she really was a a good as she made out to be, she would make a valuable bird.
"Well, guess I'll know for sure about you findin' him tomorrow." He walked along silently. There really wasn't much to stay and they were getting closer to the girls' lodge anyways. He'd just bid her good night and go look for his two birds.
((Well, I gotta get off. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. I'll try to get on tomorrow! It's lovely rping with you.))

[You too! xx Goodnight!]
"Well, guess I'll know for sure about you findin' him tomorrow."
Lacey shrugged. That was fair to her, and she knew where to look for him in the mornings and the evenings - at least, she had a pretty good idea. If he was somewhere else, she knew a few people that she could ask about it, and she could find him from that. She was confident in her abilities. People finding was something that she practiced a lot, especially having three younger brothers to deal with.
"Thanks for walkin' me back." She smiled as they reached the lodge, patting his shoulder gently before stepping away from him. "Have a nice night, Spot. I'll try talkin' to ya tomorrow." She smiled softly, biting down softly onto her bottom lip as she made her way into the lodging house for the night.

"Thanks for walkin' me back."
Spot gave her slight nod and tugged at his cap. There really wasn't a reason for her to thank him. He was just making sure the girls in his borough stayed safe.
"Have a nice night, Spot. I'll try talkin' to ya tomorrow."
He nodded again. "Good night." He pursed his lips. "We'll see... If you don't see me, just tell Lookout that I'm tryin' ya out as a boid."

"We'll see... If you don't see me, just tell Lookout that I'm tryin' ya out as a boid."
Lacey nodded briefly, making sure to take a mental note of the information as she walked back inside the lodging house. Lookout was one of the boys that she did actually know, and so she figured that it would be easy enough. She just didn't know exactly what she was supposed to be talking to Jack about. Perhaps Lookout would know if she told him that she was on a trial run.
"That's the end for tonight..."
[Okay, I figure this wraps things up here.]
