"We can go to my work again. Can have lots of tea."
His grin widened. "Ah you lost me at tea. Love that stuff."
"Don't touch that!"
Ace almost jumped at the angry tone Rip used. It was very low and menacing. The guy was really angry for some reason, and he needed to diffuse the situation and fast.
"Heya, Rip," he greeted cautiously. "Lighten up some okay?" He placed his flower next to Astrid's. "Be more respectful. This is a place of rest." He placed his hand on the stone. "Gorffwyswch mewn heddwch."

Rip glared at Astrid as he readjusted Key's stone. He didn't like people touching his area.
"Heya, Rip. Lighten up some okay?"
He relaxed ever so slightly and gave his friend a slight nod. He was still irritated though. Why was she here messing with Key's memorial stone? She had no business here... at least not in this specific area of the cemetery. This was his spot for Key that no one was allowed to touch, well, except for maybe Ace.
"Be more respectful. This is a place of rest."
He made slight face. Couldn't argue with that. Ace was right. He needed to be respectful of the dead.
"Gorffwyswch mewn heddwch."
Rip raised his eyebrow. "What did ya just say?" he asked curiously.
Occasionally, Ace would slip into his native Welsh tongue, and Rip would always ask him to translate. When they were younger, they used to exchange phrases, Ace in Welsh and Rip in German.

"Heya, Rip. Lighten up some okay? Be more respectful. This is a place of rest.
Astrid moved away from Rip and moved a bit behind Ace. She needed to move. Get away from Rip. He had already snapped at her for just putting a flower on the grave.
"Gorffwyswch mewn heddwch.
What did ya just say?
She hugged herself as she watched Ace. He really was a good person. Why was he with Rip...?

Ace was relieved to see that Rip had relaxed a little. Though, he could tell the guy was still upset. He could kind of understand why, but he didn't think Rip should have snapped at Astrid like that.
"What did ya just say?"
He brightened and gave his friend a small grin. This was more like the Rip he knew well. "Rest in peace." He gave Rip a careful, but playful, nudge. "How about you tell me the German phrase for that."

"Rest in peace."
Rip's eyes softened. He appreciated his friend's kind words for the dead, but he couldn't help but bristle slightly when Ace touched the stone.
"How about you tell me the German phrase for that."
A slight smile tugged his lips briefly before he shook his head. "Maybe later, Ace..." He tossed his head in the direction of the lodge. "Let's go talk."

Rest In Peace. How about you tell me the German phrase for that.
Maybe later, Ace...Let's go talk.
Astrid moved back by her parents headstone and sat down. She needed to hide. To get away. Astrid didn't want to leave Ace yet though. She had enjoyed their talk. Astrid looked up at Ace. They were done talking now it seemed. Rip was here and Ace was going to leave. That was for the best. Rip could t see her parents headstone. He couldn't figure out who she was.

"Maybe later, Ace."
Ace's smile faded some. "Okay... another time."
"Let's go talk."
He sighed and nodded some. "Okay. Ready when you are."
He glanced back at Astrid before following Rip. A small smile was all he could give her.

"Okay... another time."
Rip felt bad when Ace's smile faded. He kind of missed those old times when they would switch phrases, but he didn't have the time now.
"Okay. Ready when you are."
He nodded. "The lodge."

Astrid gave a small smileto Ace as she watched the boys leave. She watched them leave. Astrid sat at the headstone and just breathed. They were ok...they'd be ok...
