Lacey made her way into the Bronx moderately quickly, although her eyes were constantly searching for any sign of Sand. She had to find her as quickly as possible so that she could be back in Brooklyn before nightfall, which gave her a lot of the afternoon, but it could take a while to talk and actually get to find Darcy.
Scanning the horizon briefly, Lacey's breathing was a bit shaky from how quickly she had been moving, although there was determination and adrenaline rushing through her veins. She was more than ready to find Darcy and tell her what she knew, and if she could bring her back to Brooklyn, then that would be good. If not, at least she would be aware that there was something serious going on.

Sand was walking through the zoo enjoying the day. It was a good day. Sunny and blue skies. This weather always put her in a good mood. She was less worried about the whole mess that was going on. Only thing that would make today better would be if Blondie was here...or maybe Smolder but she wasn't sure where they stood anymore.

Almost instantly upon recognizing the leader, Lacey shot over as quickly as she could. She was determined to get things done soon, and that meant trying to get things sorted out in the clearest way possible.
"Spot sent me ta talk to ya. Someone from Queens came by an' told us that Rip may be lookin' ta get Darcy again ta use against Spot." She reported, although she barely understood what she was trying to say herself. The whole situation was confusing and quite difficult to explain.

Sand looked very confused at the bird. "What's this Darcy gotta do with me? Ain't no one by that name here." She said pulling the girl over out of the way of the foot traffic. Why couldn't this just be the good day that she hoped for? Sand wasn't sure how any of this was tied to her or Bronx.

"What's this Darcy gotta do with me? Ain't no one by that name here."
Lacey allowed herself to be pulled to the side, although she frowned at the leader's words. "We know Darcy's here. Cloud saw 'er. She's been gone for a real long time and this is for her own safety. If she doesn't come back ta Brooklyn, that's fine, but please tell 'er that somethin' could happen and she's gotta be ready for anythin'."

Sand looked a bit agitated at the girls frown but then it only got worse hearing her words. Course it was serious. It's all she had been thinking about since it all started. She tried to calm down some before she spoke. It wasn't like her to be angry and it would definitely not be good if she got angry at one of Spot's birds. "I get it's serious but like I said I dunno any Darcy. And cloud may a seen her but that don't mean she's here or goin by that name. If she's here then she's my problem. And if Queens steps inta Bronx thinkin they can take any of my newsies they best be prepared for the consequences." Sand was coming off strong and she was very protective of her newsies. They were her responsiblity. Taking another slow breathe she added, "but if ya can find her we talk ta her together. And she goes if she wants ta." Sand said trying not to be rude but also her that she wasn't about to let Brooklyn or anyone else tell her what to do in her borough.

Lacey had to keep herself from groaning, although something that Sand said caught her attention. What if Darcy was there, but going by another name? Lacey knew practically nothing about Darcy; there would be no way for her to find someone who she didn't know anything about.
"But if ya can find her we talk ta her together. And she goes if she wants ta."
It was a bit stressful, although Lacey was determined to make things work for Spot. She cared about Spot a lot, and he was the leader of her borough. Her borough meant everything to her. If she could ensure that Spot would feel secure with Darcy back, then she was going to find a way to bring Darcy back, no matter how long it took her. "She's gotta be goin' by some other name..." She mumbled, speaking more to herself than she was to Sand.
So far, she knew that Darcy was a girl, and that she had hopefully some features in common with Spot. Perhaps his bright blue eyes? That would make things significantly easier. She would just have to wait and see... And hope.

Darcy was strolling through the zoo. She had grown quite fond of it during her stay here. If anything, the zoo was the reason why she had decided to stay at Bronx for a good bit. Her eyes brightened somewhat as she spotted the Bronx leader. It seemed she had a friend with her.
"'ullo, Sand!" she called out as she approached the two girls.

"'ullo, Sand!"
Lacey's eyes immediately shot in the direction of the new voice, her hazel eyes widening at the sight. The girl, while not exactly the spitting image of Spot, definitely had something about her that seemed Conlon-esque. It was a moment where Lacey didn't really know what to say, opening her mouth and then closing it again. Did Sand really not see it? Had Darcy been going by another name? Was this Darcy?
"Darcy?" She asked dumbly, her eyes as wide as saucers as she stared towards the approaching female.

"Darcy?"
Darcy tensed up immediately at the sound of her name. She tried not to show her shock as she looked at the new girl. "My n-name is na Darcy. Ya must be mistakin' me for someone else." She gave Sand a concerned glance. What was going on here?
"My name's Trixie," she introduced herself, holding out her hand, hoping she did look as nervous as she felt.

"My n-name is na Darcy. Ya must be mistakin' me for someone else."
The slight stutter in her voice caused Lacey to narrow her eyes a bit. However, from the fact that she was running purely off of a theory, she couldn't be sure that this really was Darcy.
"My name's Trixie."
Slowly nodding, Lacey shook her hand, swallowing thickly as she did so. "'M Lacey. From Brooklyn. Do ya know anyone named Darcy 'round 'ere? I think someone may be tryin' ta hurt 'er..." She spoke slowly, not giving away too many details in case it wasn't Darcy, but enough to the point where she would hopefully get a reaction that could tell her one way or the other.

"'M Lacey. From Brooklyn."
Darcy paled at the mention of Brooklyn. Why on earth was someone from Brooklyn here? Her hands were starting to feel really clammy.
"Do ya know anyone named Darcty 'round 'ere?"
Panic. She mustn't panic. She swallowed and shook her head. "N-na. I do na know any Darcy." She looked over at Sand. "I am new 'ere," she explained, hoping the Bronx leader could help her out.
"I think someone may be tryin' ta hurt 'er..."
Darcy was starting to feel a little woozy at that comment. "'urt her?" she manged not to squeak out.
What on earth could be going on... who was trying to hurt her? Or was this a trap? Why, oh why, had she decided to return to New York?!

"N-na. I do na know any Darcy."
Lacey didn't know whether to believe her or not. She didn't entirely trust her, getting the same feeling that she had gotten earlier on with Whisper. She wasn't who she said that she was, from what Lacey could tell, and she was determined to push it just a little bit further.
"I am new 'ere."
She raised an eyebrow. Could that have been why she was walking with Sand when Cloud had seen them? Because she was new, and she was being shown what it was like to be a newsie there?
"'urt her?"
Lacey nodded grimly, "Rip. From Queens. Spot says 'e wants ta make sure Darcy's safe, whether it's in Brooklyn or somewhere else. He just wants ta know that she'll be okay. If ya find 'er... Tell me, alright? I'm usually 'round somewhere, or ya could find another boid... Somethin'."

Sand was about to reply to Trixie when Lacey said the name of the girl she was looking for. Listening to their back and forth she tried to understand what was going on before she offered her input. This was making her anxious though. This fight with Brooklyn and Queens was right on her doorstep and she wasn't sure what to do.

"Rip. From Queens."
Her eyes widened ever so slightly at the mention of the Queens' leader. She should have known he was still leader there and that he was still looking for her and Spot. She really shouldn't have come back!
"Spot says 'e wants ta make sure Darcy's safe, whether it's in Brooklyn or somewhere else. He just wants ta know that she'll be okay."
Darcy's eyes widened once more. Spot... was worried about her? He wasn't mad? She wasn't sure if she believed this girl. It could all be a trap for all she knew. She wasn't about to make the same mistakes she had in the past. She wasn't going to blindly follow anyone. She was smarter than that.
"If ya find 'er... Tell me, alright? I'm usually 'round somewhere, or ya could find another boid... Somethin'."
She nodded slowly. "If... If I ever meet 'er, I'll tell ya."
Right now, she just needed to find out if this girl was telling the truth. She glanced over at Sand. Maybe she could help uncover what was really going on?

Sand saw Trixie's side glance at her. They needed to talk when Lacey had left. Sand knew Trixie knew something she wasn't telling her. They wouldn't talk about it yet. Sand looked over at Lacey. "I'll let ya know if we hear anythin about Darcy alright?"

"If... If I ever meet 'er, I'll tell ya."
Lacey nodded slowly. There wasn't much else that she could do with the information that she had.
"I'll let ya know if we hear anythin about Darcy alright?"
She swallowed thickly, a brief moment of hesitation flickering over her face. Would it really be a good idea to just let Sand handle it? Or should she see if she could get Cloud to come over and check, since he knew Darcy probably personally?
Instead, she found herself nodding. "Thanks... Good luck. Thanks again for the help. See ya later, Sand. Trixie." She nodded briefly, slowly stepping away from the pair and making her way back towards Brooklyn.

"I'll let ya know if we hear anythin about Darcy alright?"
Darcy felt relieved. Sand would keep her safe... no one needed to know she was back in New York.
"Thanks... Good luck. Thanks again for the help. See ya later, Sand. Trixie."
She nodded slowly, feeling a bit guilty for lying to the girl. She seemed harmless enough, but she was still afraid of Spot and Rip.
Darcy hesitated but took a step towards the girl as she walked away. "W-wait! Wait... jus' a moment."

"W-wait! Wait... jus' a moment."
Lacey had to admit, she hadn't been expecting to hear the hesitant objection from Trixie as she began to walk away. Slowly, she turned back around, her curious hazel eyes scanning the girl in front of her. Would this be a confession?
"Yeah?" Her voice was soft and gentle, not wanting to come off as condescending or anything like that. She just wanted the truth. She wanted to make Spot happy... And nothing would make him happier than if she could go back and at least tell him that Darcy would be okay.

"Yeah?"
Darcy knew she had made the right decision even though it felt like her gut was saying otherwise. That soft, non-judging tone gave her comfort.
"I um jus' was wonderin'... I actually used ta live near Brooklyn a long long time ago," she started slowly. "I did na ever know a Darcy, but I did know a boy named Thunder." She bit her lip nervously. She wasn't sure what her older cousin knew about everything, but she was sure he had reacted with a level head. She trusted him to be mostly unbiased... and perhaps on her side if things were still ugly with Spot. "Could ya... perhaps tell 'im Trixie is in Bronx?"
She could find out what was going on much better with Thunder and well it would be nice to see Jasper again. She just wasn't ready to see Spot yet. Thunder would understand... He could help her.

"I um jus' was wonderin'... I actually used ta live near Brooklyn a long long time ago."
Lacey raised an eyebrow, although she didn't say anything. She had already decided that she didn't entirely trust Trixie, although she was ready to suspend her disbelief in this case until she knew more.
"I did na ever know a Darcy, but I did know a boy named Thunder. Could ya... perhaps tell 'im Trixie is in Bronx?"
She frowned. Thunder? In Brooklyn? Perhaps it had been a long time ago, although it seemed strange for Lacey to picture Thunder anywhere but Staten Island. "Thunder? Ya mean from Staten?" Lacey couldn't help but inquire. Was there another Thunder somewhere that she didn't know?

"Thunder? Ya mean from Staten?"
Darcy's brow furrowed in confusion in the familiar Conlon trait way. "Staten?" she asked, confusion evident in her voice. "I do na know of a Thunder in Staten... only Brooklyn." She frowned. "He has a younger brother... Jasper?" she added as a question not to further the girl's suspicions. She couldn't slip and mention Spot! But maybe if she used his real name it would be okay?

"Staten? I do na know of a Thunder in Staten... only Brooklyn."
Lacey frowned. She thought that she knew all of the boys in Brooklyn; she was a bird, after all. She had earned her spot as a bird through knowing people and listening to them, so the fact that she might have missed someone was highly unlikely.
"He has a younger brother... Jasper?"
She shook her head. Now she was sure. "He's in Staten. Hasn't been in Brooklyn for a while, as far as I'm aware. But I can tell 'im for ya."

"He's in Staten. Hasn't been in Brooklyn for a while, as far as I'm aware. But I can tell 'im for ya."
Darcy's eyes widened in surprise. Why on earth was Thunder in Staten? She almost voiced her question aloud, but caught herself in time. "Ah... I see."
Now she was unsure if she should get in touch with Thunder. What if he had moved because of her? Things were certainly becoming more complicated since her return... but Thunder was the only person she knew she could trust! She would just have to hope for the best.
"That would be nice... thank ya."

"Ah... I see. That would be nice... thank ya."
Lacey nodded slowly, smiling faintly. Whether or not this was Trixie or Darcy, she had the Conlon quality that Lacey had learned to enjoy. Perhaps someday, the pair could become friends if she came to Brooklyn. She wouldn't have been opposed to it. "No problem. Stay safe." Lacey turned to leave again, this time making her way in the direction of Staten Island.
