A brief stroll through Central Park had sounded like the perfect way to spend an afternoon. It wasn't as though Blankets had anything better to do, with her family out at work and all of the chores done around the house. Doing something to get out for a while had seemed only natural.
She had a few coins with her in case they were needed, ready to buy a pape from a newsie if they needed it, although there were certainly faces that she knew better than others. The Manhattan newsies had never been anything but kind to her, and she found them all to be remarkably sweet. It was definitely better than some of the other boys whom she had briefly come into contact with, who would say and do crude things just because the could. She had learned to ignore them. The only problem was that she could never marry a newsie, and that was apparently her only purpose in life as a woman. Marriage and children. She didn't know if she would ever be ready.
Sighing softly, Blankets continued her stroll.

Pitch had made his way to the park to enjoy the Manhattan atmosphere...and well maybe pick up on anything with this Queens and Brooklyn deal that was rumored to be in the works. Mostly though it was to enjoy himself. If he happened to pick up anything it was just a plus for the Battery. Walking along the path he took in everything from sounds to sights. This was what he was best at. Seeing that a girl was in the path of some rambunctious children not paying attention to their surroundings he moved quickly and gently pulled her by the arm away from the path of collision.
"Sorry ta just grab you like that but didn't think ya would wanna be at the end of those kids playing." He smiled softly hoping he hadn't done anything to frighten the girl. It was the last thing on his mind to hurt or scare her. He looked at her for any sign of stress or fear or even hurt in the girl's expression.

The serene atmosphere of her mind seemed to be interrupted quite suddenly, an unknown hand taking hold of her arm and gently moving her to the side, just as two squealing children ran by, practically climbing over one another as they did so. Turning, Blankets made eye contact with an unknown boy, shock evident in her expression but quickly fading. It had probably been best to have been moved out of the way than left there to be barreled into by the runaway children.
"Sorry ta just grab you like that but didn't think ya would wanna be at the end of those kids playing."
Quirking a smile, Blankets shook her head, her gaze dropping to the ground as she brushed herself off ever so slightly, mainly out of habit. "No... Thank you." She smiled. Her father surely wouldn't have been happy if she had gotten her dress dirty, and it was nice to know that there were people in Manhattan who were willing to take good care of people.

No... Thank you.
Pitch smirked slightly glad she was fine. "I'm glad ya are alright." He said moving back a bit. He didn't know if he should ask the girl about anything in the bourough or not. She didn't seem like the type to know but one never really knows. Then again he felt he should be polite to the girl and decided against his thoughts.

"I'm glad ya are alright."
His politeness brought a faint smile to Blankets' lips. She was glad that he was such a gentleman, although she didn't really know anything about him at all. He looked to be a newsie, with what he was wearing and the way that he carried himself. There was just something about him that did make her feel safer than around the upper class boys.
"Me too." She smiled. "Are you from around here? I don't think that I've seen you here before..."

Me too. Are you from around here? I don't think that I've seen you here before...
Pitch smiled a bit and looked down some as he scratched the back of his head. "Kinda I guess. I live in the Battery so I ain't comin around here a lot. Just heard some stuff floating around about something with Queens and Brooklyn. Wanted ta see how everyone else was reacting about it ya know?" He finished with a slight shrug. Pitch didn't think he made it obvious that he wanted information but if she had anything he'd be willing to take it.

"Kinda I guess. I live in the Battery so I ain't comin around here a lot."
Blankets frowned. What was someone from the Battery doing all the way in Central Park? It wasn't too far away - the Battery wasn't really on its own when it came to geography and stuff - but it was still a bit strange.
"Just heard some stuff floating around about something with Queens and Brooklyn. Wanted ta see how everyone else was reacting about it ya know?"
She quirked an eyebrow, "You came to Manhattan to find out about Queens and Brooklyn?" It was a strange logic, but it was one that she didn't mind. After all, he had been nothing if not nice so far. "I guess I may as well introduce myself, though. I'm Charlotte. Charlotte Thompson." She held out her hand to her rescuer.

You came to Manhattan to find out about Queens and Brooklyn?
Pitch chuckled. "Doesn't make much sense but I figured someone might know something ya know?"
I guess I may as well introduce myself, though. I'm Charlotte. Charlotte Thompson
"Ya can call me Pitch." He said holding out his hand.
