It took a few moments of looking around for Lacey to find someplace that was really familiar. Staten wasn't a borough where she went a whole lot - at least, not without being sure of exactly where to go. Plus, she had come at it from a strange angle from the Bronx, which had been a bit confusing. Nonetheless, she was there, and she was searching for Thunder to deliver him the news and figure out if 'Trixie' was really who she said she was, or if she was Darcy. She wanted something concrete to tell Spot when she went back.
Glancing around, Lacey was breathing a bit heavier than normal, her stride having been quite brisk as she had made her way through the boroughs. If she couldn't find Thunder soon, then she would have to head back regardless; it was getting dark.

Thunder didn't stop by the distribution center often these days. Jasper wasn't allowed to sell now that it was so cold, and well, Thunder really didn't sell much, so it was a little unusual to see the older boy here. He was jsut passing by and thought he'd see if any of the boys were free to talk. He got off work early today and wanted to "waste" some time before picking up Jasper. The little kid was used to routine and might get worried over nothing if he came by earlier than normal.
The distribution center was rather empty. Just a few stragglers who were seeing if they could buy the last few copies of the evening edition. But wait, there was a familiar looking red-head over there.
Thunder grinned and walked over to Lacey. "Hello there!" he greeted cheerfully. "Aren't you one of Spot's boids?" There was a slight twinkle in his eye. "You and Spot seem ta be gettin' quite close," he teased lightly, recalling their last meeting. "Cloud might have ta watch out, huh?" he chuckled. He was in a rather good mood.

"Hello there! Aren't you one of Spot's boids?"
Lacey jumped at the sound of a voice from nearby, seemingly calling out to her. Whirling around, her bright eyes fell upon the towering form of Thunder, with a grin on his face. She opened her mouth to reply, although he continued before she had the chance.
"You and Spot seem ta be gettin' quite close. Cloud might have ta watch out, huh?"
She was perfectly ready to defend herself, although she didn't feel any need. She liked to think that she was getting close to Spot, if she wasn't close to him already. She enjoyed his company and liked what she could do for him and the borough as a bird.
"Nah, I ain't fightin' ta take Cloud's place. The kid earned it. It ain't like that with me a Spot..." She mumbled, hoping that the flush on her cheeks wasn't as noticeable as the burning there made it feel. "I'm 'ere on business. There's a new newsie in Bronx. She says she knows ya. I think it's Darcy, but I need ta know what Darcy looks like."

"Nah, I ain't fightin' ta take Cloud's place. The kid earned it."
Thunder shook his head, smiling. "Naw, course not. Don't think the two of you would be fightin' over bein; best boid or anythin' like that."
"It ain't like that with me a Spot..."
His eyebrow raised as he hid a smirk. He seriously doubted it wasn't like that with Spot. He had a pretty good idea of what might be happening, but sadly, he couldn't be certain. He just had to poke and tease here and there to confirm his suspicions. That was the problem with living in a different borough from Spot. One of these days, he would move back to Brooklyn.
"I'm 'ere on business."
His playful demeanor quickly changed to a more serious one as Lacey's tone of voice also changed. "What kind of business?" he asked concerned. He hoped Spot wasn't in any trouble... they had talked about Rip just a few days ago.
"There's a new newsie in Bronx. She says she knows ya. I think it's Darcy, but I need ta know what Darcy looks like."
Thunder perked up slightly at the mention of his cousin. "Darce? She's back?" He wanted to ask more, but Lacey did say she thought it was Darcy, not positive though. "Well... last time I saw her, she was about Spot's height." He frowned thoughtfully. "She's probably taller though now. Got brown hair and blue-gray eyes..." It was hard giving a description after not seeing her in such a long time. "Got the Conlon eyebrow twitch down pat... and pout," he added a bit playfully. Jasper and Darcy had been experts at the pout. He scratched the back of his neck. "Erm... I thin Spot mentioned that she probably gots a scar on her face?"
He looked at her hopefully. Just hoping that his description matched the newsie she had met.

"Naw, course not. Don't think the two of you would be fightin' over bein; best boid or anythin' like that."
Lacey nearly laughed at the thought, "I like where I am. Not the best, but a good one. 'S good enough for me."
"What kind of business?"
She bit her lip. It was a complicated thing to talk about, especially considering Thunder would have known Darcy personally, as well. Everything that Lacey felt was based on suspicion. She didn't know if it was Darcy, or even if she was someone who knew Thunder and Spot at all.
"She's probably taller though now. Got brown hair and blue-gray eyes... Got the Conlon eyebrow twitch down pat... and pout."
Everything seemed to be fitting so far. Lacey just didn't know if that was enough for her to go on in order to find someone's real identity when they had been missing for years.
"Erm... I thin Spot mentioned that she probably gots a scar on her face?"
Her eyes widened a bit. Lacey bit down harshly onto her bottom lip, quickly looking back over the mental images that she remembered from meeting Trixie briefly. Eventually, she nodded slowly, her voice no louder than a whisper.
"I think I found her."

"I like where I am. Not the best, but a good one. 'S good enough for me."
Thunder nodded. "That's good... Being content is always good, buuuut," he grinned some. "Don't ever afraid ta dream a little."
Dreams were what brought hope, and hope made life worth living. At least, that's how Thunder saw things.
"I think I found her."
He studied Lacey's expression watching as it slowly changed after hear Darcy's description. His heart skipped a beat as she barely whispered the words he was unsure if he would ever hear.
"You... found her?" He didn't want to be disappointed if she was wrong... but hope. He couldn't help hoping. It had never hurt him before, so why should it now? "You think you found her? In Bronx?"
Bronx wasn't far away... He could quickly pop by and then pick up Jasper at his usual time.
"How did she look? Is she all right?" he asked concerned. Questions were just rushing out. His cousin... was she truly back?

"That's good... Being content is always good, buuuut, don't ever afraid ta dream a little."
Lacey bit her lip. Of course, she could have taken that a million different ways, although she quickly chose to take it in the way that he had meant it: as a bird.
"You... found her? You think you found her? In Bronx?"
She nodded slowly, "Yeah, she's goin' by Trixie. Sand's been helpin' her out and stuff so she's safe."
"How did she look? Is she all right?"
Lacey couldn't help but smile slightly at how concerned he was about her. It was admirable to see someone care that much about someone, and she would have done the same if it had been one of her brothers.
"She's fine, I believe. Sand's helpin' her, as I said. She's a little skinny, even for a newsie, but she doesn't look ta be on the brink of death or anythin' like that." She shrugged slightly.

"Yeah, she's goin' by Trixie. Sand's been helpin' her out and stuff so she's safe."
Thunder's face brightened. "Trixie? That's gotta be her!" He never felt so relieved. "Trixie..." A fond smile tugged at his lips. "She's definitely back home."
"She's fine, I believe. Sand's helpin' her, as I said. She's a little skinny, even for a newsie, but she doesn't look ta be on the brink of death or anythin' like that."
He looked concerned at the mention of being skinny, but he relaxed when she said it didn't look serious. He still was a little worried... why was Darcy skinny? Where had she been? Why hadn't she contacted him or Spot?
"She's in Bronx..." He pursed his lips slightly and looked at Lacey. "You think she'll see me?"
If she hadn't come to Spot... why would she be okay with seeing him?

"Trixie? That's gotta be her! She's definitely back home."
Lacey was relieved. She had done what she could, and at least now, she could reassure Spot that Darcy was safe.
"You think she'll see me?"
She bit her lip, nodding slowly. "She told me ta tell ya that she was there. I don't know why she'd say that and not want ta talk to ya." Lacey pointed out. In all honesty, she wasn't sure. She didn't know much about Darcy at all. She was just glad that she had been able to spot something about her that made her a Conlon. She would be able to make Spot happy, and that mattered to her.

"She told me ta tell ya that she was there. I don't know why she'd say that and not want ta talk to ya."
Thunder smiled, relieved that Darcy would see him. Though, he thought it was strange that she would want to speak to him and not Spot. She had always been closer to his younger brother. They were practically twins after all. But what did it matter? His cousin was back and she was safe. That's what truly mattered.
"Thank you," he gave Lacey another wide smile. "I'm really glad Spot has you as a boid. You've really opened him up quite a bit. Haven't seen 'im like this in years..." he added quietly.
Spot had always been the most serious of the three Conlon brothers but even more so after he became leader and Darcy had left. The guy really needed to loosen up and relax and make friends.

"Thank you."
Lacey smiled, nodding at Thunder. "It's my job. The least I could do."
"I'm really glad Spot has you as a boid. You've really opened him up quite a bit. Haven't seen 'im like this in years..."
Her cheeks turned scarlet once again, hiding it behind her hair, although her grin was clearly visible as her hazel eyes lit up. "Really? Ya think so?" She sounded a bit too eager for her taste, so she quickly cleared her throat. "It's nothin'. Anythin' for him."

"It's my job. The least I could do."
Thunder cracked a small grin. "Well, even if it's just your job, I appreciate it. Feel like you put good effort inta it."
"Really? Ya think so?"
He felt a smug smile tugging at his lips as he could see her cheeks turn a bit red. It looks like his suspicions on one side was correct. "Yeah, most definitely," he assured her. "He's been more comfortable bein' himself since he's made ya a boid."
"It's nothin'. Anythin' for him."
He raised his eyebrow, wondering what exactly she meant by anything for Spot. It seemed like it could be a very very good thing for his little brother. "I'm sure he's grateful that ya would do anythin' for him and the borough."

"Well, even if it's just your job, I appreciate it. Feel like you put good effort inta it."
Lacey smiled. She was glad that Thunder was thinking so highly of her, especially since she would often times find herself a bit self-conscious being the only girl bird in Brooklyn.
"Yeah, most definitely. He's been more comfortable bein' himself since he's made ya a boid."
She grinned, biting her lip to prevent herself from saying anything else. She had to work on holding her tongue when it came to things like Spot.
"I'm sure he's grateful that ya would do anythin' for him and the borough."
"Of course. It's home, and he's the leader. He's all we got for now." Lacey nodded curtly, although she wasn't sure that she would have believed her. She felt as though her deepest thoughts were quite obvious, as much as she hated it. There wasn't much else that she could do to help it. She liked talking about Spot.

"Of course. It's home, and he's the leader. He's all we got for now."
Thunder pursed his lips and nodded. Spot was Brooklyn at least for the time being. "Yeah... he's what makes Brooklyn Brooklyn I guess." He looked over Lacey thoughtfully. "Has Spots even mentioned maybe looking for a possible leader after him?"
Spot wasn't exactly getting any younger. He wasn't old yet, but it was better to find someone and get them prepared for when he did actual leave Brooklyn.

"Yeah... he's what makes Brooklyn Brooklyn I guess."
Lacey smiled faintly and nodded in agreement. She couldn't picture Brooklyn without Spot, even when she hadn't spoken much to him. He was the face of Brooklyn in her mind, and no one loved the borough more than he did.
"Has Spots even mentioned maybe looking for a possible leader after him?"
She frowned at the thought. Losing Spot would be awful, especially since she knew that she would be leaving right along with him, forced to go off and find some man to marry, or some factory with horrible working conditions to make a living in through long hours and painful labor. She didn't want that.
"No, not that he's told me. I dunno if he'd talk ta me about it, but he hasn't brought it up." Lacey bit her lip.

"No, not that he's told me. I dunno if he'd talk ta me about it, but he hasn't brought it up."
Thunder nodded silently. It was a shot in the dark, but he had to try. It was quite possible that Spot would tell Lacey or Cloud something like that, but it seemed as if Spot'a thoughts were still far from retirement. Not that it was a bad thing... but Thunder did feel like Spot should bring someone under his wing and help them learn the ropes of being leader.
"Ah well... guess it's still a little too early for 'im ta leave Brooklyn just yet." He stuffed his hands in his pockets. "But if he ever makes his move, would ya give me a heads up? Like ta keep tabs on Spotty boy and my old home after all."

"Ah well... guess it's still a little too early for 'im ta leave Brooklyn just yet."
Lacey visibly relaxed, even though she had been aware of that earlier. She nodded, doing her best to shoot him a smile, even though it wasn't really something to be smiling about. "Yeah, he's got time."
"But if he ever makes his move, would ya give me a heads up? Like ta keep tabs on Spotty boy and my old home after all."
She nodded, smiling softly. It was the least that she could do. She may have been a bird for Brooklyn, but she was willing to do other things, too. That included Spot, so it was essentially for Brooklyn, right? That was good enough for her. "Absolutely."

"Yeah, he's got time."
Thunder chuckled softly. "If he could, Spot would probably just stop time and remain leader of Brooklyn forever." He shook his head some. "But that ain't gonna happen sadly."
"Absolutely."
He grinned:. "Thanks. It means a lot to me. Really glad Spot has ya for a boid. Keep in touch. I'm off ta Bronx ta see about Darce."

Lacey nodded sadly, exhaling slowly. She wished that Spot could stay forever. At least he could always stay in the borough and help out the newsie leaders if they needed it.
"Thanks. It means a lot to me. Really glad Spot has ya for a boid. Keep in touch. I'm off ta Bronx ta see about Darce."
"Thanks, Thunder." She smiled, "Good luck with Darcy. I'll keep in touch." Lacey made her way back towards Brooklyn.

"Thanks, Thunder. Good luck with Darcy. I'll keep in touch."
Thunder tipped his cap to her. "No problem. I wish you the best." He smiled softly. "And I'm sure things will be just swell with Darce."
At least... he hoped it would.
