It was another fall morning. A small breeze would pass through every so often, reminding the newsies of the colder weather to come. Spot tried not to be bothered by thoughts of cold weather. The present was more important. He was getting his papers and watching the boys. With colder weather coming... but no, he wasn't going to think about that. He was just going to monitor the boys for a few minutes longer then he'd go off to sell.

Opera was running late, for the second time this week. she quickly got in line behind "Legs" one of the younger boys and a very fast runner.
seeing spot, she simply nodded at him. it was a bit noisy, and she was still a little hoarse, from singing practice yesterday. those very high notes were tricky.

Spot shouldn’t stay too long, but he wanted to check on all the boys before he left. He gave a slight nod as one of the girls nodded at him. She was late again, he noted. He might have to see what could be causing her to be late... or have Lacey look into it. He didn’t really like getting into the girls’ business if he could help it. If it was a safety issue, then, he would be more involved. Other than that, he left the girls to sort through their drama. He had enough to do without getting involved in that. But he would make a note to talk to Lacey about Opera just in case. It was best to keep an eye on all newsies whether they were girls or boys.

Spot nodded back. Opera knew that look, she mentally prepared herself for a visit from Lacey. she wasn't sure it would be her, but since Spot rarely dealt with the girls himself, she thought it was likely.
she got her usual amount and got out of there as quickly as she could.

Spot watched Opera get her papers and hurry away. It seemed she knew that she was in trouble. Well, she wasn't in trouble just yet. It depended on why she was running late. Spot wasn't one to tolerate any mischief from even girl newsies. He would just have to remember to check up on her with Lacey or one of the older girls or even one of the rare girl birds.
For now, it was time for him to head on out and sell. He just needed to remember to check on the girls after selling. Right now, things seemed to be fine despite the colder weather. He didn't need to worry... for now.

when Opera arrived on her track, she just put it out of her head for now, it was thoughts about her little brother that kept her up at night, he just refused to leave her head. typical Frank, always asking questions, but never answering the few questions she herself had. she missed him. this always happened around his birthday, no big deal. but her being late was, she hoped Spot would understand. with a sorrowfull sigh she went back to the job at hand.
