Spot was standing by the shore, a little ways away from the docks. He had finished selling for the day and was just looking out at the waters. Well, he was doing alot of thinking. There were some things he needed to think over before discussing Darcy with Lacey. Rip had been unusually quiet. It could be a good sign... but it could also be a bad sign. The clock was ticking. Rip wouldn't wait much longer. Ah, but that was not the only thing on Spot's mind. He still had to look over new borough lines and consider contacting the other leaders about it. He would need to talk to Jack about how that was going. Maybe after talking with Lacey, he could head to Manhattan about that business. Besides, he should head over to see his brothers and let them know about Darcy. He had alot to do.

The day had perhaps been one of the longest that Lacey could remember. She had never stopped thinking about Darcy the day before, and how she had managed to get away. She had been so close to reuniting Spot with Darcy, and she had run. Why was she running? Lacey didn't understand.
Once she had finally finished selling, Lacey had made her way straight to the docks, eager to talk to Spot and get his permission to go out and find Darcy. She was determined, and she wasn't going to take no for an answer this time around. Once she had spotted him, however, her confidence almost instantly began to dwindle, approaching slowly and clearing her throat. "Hello again."

"Hello again."
Spot turned around, slightly caught off guard. He had been deep in thought. "Lacey," he greeted.
He motioned for her to follow as they headed towards the dock at Spot's usual spot. Here they could have some shelter from the wind and have some privacy to talk about important matter. The two sat on some empty crates while Spot made a small fire in the little makeshift stove fisherman had used to keep warm while on the docks.
"Did she say she was stayin' someplace else?" He knew Darcy always had several backup plans and was pretty sure she hadn't meant to stay in Brooklyn.

"Lacey."
Lacey didn't hesitate to follow him as they went back to his usual place on the docks. She wanted to speak while he made the fire but she just couldn't find the strength to. She was so scared of upsetting him again and having everything that had happened with him saying that he loved her and things last night mean absolutely nothing. She couldn't handle losing him at this point. He was a staple in her life.
"Did she say she was stayin' someplace else?"
She wracked her brain for a couple of moments at his question before it suddenly hit her. "Harlem. She mentioned Harlem." She couldn't believe that she had forgotten. If she had remembered the night before, she could have kept chasing Darcy in that direction and possibly tracked her down.

"Harlem. She mentioned Harlem."
Spot raised an eyebrow. Harlem. He certainly wasn't expecting that, but then again, he didn't hang around Harlem much. That would be the best place to go if she didn't want to be seen by her cousin. Well, that and maybe Queens, but he really doubted she wanted to go back there after all that had happened.
"Harlem..." He really couldn't afford to go to Harlem if he was heading to Manhattan and Staten today. He pursed his lips and glanced at Lacey. Perhaps, he should let her check on a few things? It was still an idea. He wasn't sure if Lacey should go with all that had happened with Rip not too long ago.

"Harlem..."
It was obvious that Spot was thinking things over, and there wasn't bound to be a better opportunity than this to bring up the idea.
"Let me go get her." She might have been overstepping, especially since Darcy didn't seem to like her, but she would do anything for Spot and his happiness. She wanted to make all of her constant failings up to him. She wanted to deserve his love. "I'll bring her back for you, I promise I can do it. I can find a way. Let me make you happy, Spot."

"Let me go get her."
Spot pursed his lips. "Lacey, I--"
"I'll bring her back for you, I promise I can do it. I can find a way. Let me make you happy, Spot."
"Lacey." His tone was serious, only to get her to focus on what he needed to say now. "Remember what I said last night, doing all that is nice, but you don't got ta to that to make me happy." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "You don't know Darcy that well... She ain't gonna be easy to confront especially if she feels edgy around you. Our best bet," he put an emphasis on 'our' so Lacey knew that he wasn't against her helping. "Is to just find her and get her ta stay put and have Thunder talk ta her. She's edgy around me because..." He didn't feel like finishing that thought. "She's got nothing against Thunder so there's a small chance she'll listen ta him."

"Lacey, I--"
She was desperate, and when she was desperate, Lacey talked. She talked a lot. She had always been a shy person, but she was eager to please and she had to do something to feel like she was good enough for Spot when all that she ever seemed to do was let him down.
"Lacey."
Lacey quieted down almost instantly once again, eyes falling to her lap, though there was a bit of frustration that welled up in her chest once again.
"Remember what I said last night, doing all that is nice, but you don't got ta to that to make me happy."
She shut her eyes tightly. It was going to take some time before something like that would sink in.
"You don't know Darcy that well... She ain't gonna be easy to confront especially if she feels edgy around you."
There was no way that Lacey could argue with that, but it didn't mean that she felt any better about it.
"Our best bet is to just find her and get her ta stay put and have Thunder talk ta her. She's edgy around me because..."
She frowned a bit, looking up at him as he seemed to trail off. Of course, she wasn't going to force him to finish the thought when it was obvious that he didn't want to, but her interest was definitely piqued.
"She's got nothing against Thunder so there's a small chance she'll listen ta him."
Letting out a sad sigh, Lacey began fidgeting with her fingers once again. Why did she always mess things up like this and stress Spot out? Why was it that every good moment that they had constantly seemed to have to be coupled with a bad one?
"I'm sorry." She mumbled under her breath.

"I'm sorry."
He poked at the fire in attempt to keep it from dying. "It's fine. I know you want ta help... which," he hoped he wouldn't regret this. "Which is why I'd like ya ta head ta Harlem. See where Darcy is and what she's up to, but don't talk ta her. At least, not for now. I got some business in 'Hattan and also need to talk to my brothers. Maybe see about talkin' ta Harlem's leader. Jus' ask about the borders and make sure Queens ain't planning anythin' funny and maybe ask about Darcy."
While she did that, he could talk to Jack and his brothers. Thunder was really needed to figure out how to get Darcy to stop running from them.

"It's fine. I know you want ta help...
Lacey really did. She wanted more than anything to help Spot get the people that mattered to him back. He didn't have his parents anymore, but Darcy was still out there. She could still help with that.
"Which is why I'd like ya ta head ta Harlem. See where Darcy is and what she's up to, but don't talk ta her. At least, not for now."
She swallowed thickly. "I won't let ya down."
"I got some business in 'Hattan and also need to talk to my brothers. Maybe see about talkin' ta Harlem's leader. Jus' ask about the borders and make sure Queens ain't planning anythin' funny and maybe ask about Darcy."
Lacey nodded a bit. They could make this happen. Spot was going to get Darcy back, she was going to make sure of that.
"I could check on Queens, too, while I was out..." That much was a longshot, especially with what had happened last time, but Lacey still just wanted to help however she could. She didn't want to feel useless with what could be coming up.

"I won't let ya down."
Spot nodded. He believed in her. She could do this if she set her mind on it.
"I could check on Queens, too, while I was out..."
He gave her a sharp look. "No. Queens is out of the question." He already lost Darcy in a way to Queens. He was not going to let that happen to Lacey. "Just head to Harlem and meet back up in 'Hattan when you're done."
He did his best not to be too sharp with her, but he wanted to realized that Queens was dangerous and he was not wanting her to get hurt.

"No. Queens is out of the question."
Lacey admittedly flinched a bit with the way that he looked at her in that moment, though she did her best not to let him see it. She should have known that it would be shot down in the first place.
"Just head to Harlem and meet back up in 'Hattan when you're done."
Swallowing thickly, she nodded a bit. "Right... right now?"

"Right... right now?"
Spot shook his head. "No... I'm not headin' out yet, so you don't have ta either." He poked at the fire, hoping he hadn't been to hard on Lacey. He knew she wanted to help, but Queens was just not an option. He would send someone else. Perhaps Cloud. No, he couldn't risk the boy getting hurt. He'd just have to find someone else who was tough but reliable. It was just hard to find the perfect person.

"No... I'm not headin' out yet, so you don't have ta either."
Lacey nodded slowly, though she was contemplating how she was going to go about all of this. She would have to find Harlem's leader, and she would need to go to the girl's lodge there and talk to the lodge owner... and that would all be easy. Finding Darcy would be difficult unless she could find someone who knew her, which would hopefully be easy if she could find that Darcy was staying in the lodge. Beyond that... she still wanted to help with Queens. Surely she could just check up on things without Spot finding out? He wouldn't worry that way, but she could get information.
"Alright." She agreed, just a bit caught up with the thoughts in her head, though she moved a bit closer to Spot.

"Alright."
Spot could tell she was disappointed about not being allowed to go to Queens, but it seemed as if she was willing to stay back as he told her.
"So... um selling go well?"
It was time to make a little small talk. Enjoy the other's company before they went about their business.

"So... um selling go well?"
Lacey shrugged a bit, fingers fidgeting with the edge of her sweater once again. "Had a lot on my mind today."
Finally looking up from her lap, she cleared her throat. "Was it alright for you?"

"Had a lot on my mind today."
He nodded in understanding. He too had a lot to think about.
"Was it alright for you?"
Spot returned her shrug as he watched the embers of the fire slowly die. "Not bad but not really good. Guess we both have been thinkin' a lot."

"Not bad but not really good. Guess we both have been thinkin' a lot."
Lacey bit her lip softly, turning her gaze towards him. She really was lucky. Sure, it was never something that she forgot, but it was always still amazing to her to think about the place that she had gotten to with Spot. She had never thought that she would have him.
"Things'll get better soon." She bit her lip, tearing her eyes away from him once more and back towards the fire.

"Things'll get better soon."
Spot nodded. That's what he hoped and believed. Things would get better.
"Yeah... they sure will." He poked at the dying fire once more as he got onto his feet. It was probably about time to head out. He didn't want to take too long in Staten. It took awhile to get back from Staten back to Manhattan.

"Yeah... they sure will."
It was nerve-wracking, knowing the situation that she was about to walk into. She had support from Spot and Thunder when it came to Darcy, but she had to figure out what was going on with Rip. She had to find out something for Spot. Surely he would be grateful if she succeeded? It was just the thought that she might fail that freaked him out so much, right?
Rising to her feet, she cleared her throat. "So... I guess this is it then, huh?"

"So... I guess this is it then, huh?"
Spot sighed softly and nodded. "I don't want ta stay too long in Staten." He pursed his lips. "I'll walk wit' ya ta the bridge."
After all, you had to go through Manhattan to get to Harlem. He was heading to Manhattan first, so it wasn't out of the way. He patted his pocket to make sure his scraps of notes where still there. Last night he had gone through some maps of New York to get more ideas for the borders and thought he'd give his notes and sketches to Jack while they discussed if the meeting with the leaders was feasible.

"I don't want ta stay too long in Staten."
Lacey nodded a bit. That made enough sense.
"I'll walk wit' ya ta the bridge."
She nodded again. She could do everything in Harlem first, and then come back to Brooklyn through Queens. If she moved quickly and did everything that she needed to... she would be able to be back before curfew.

Spot offered his hand as they made their way quietly to the bridge. It was one of the rare warm winter days that made you feel like spring was near even though spring was still quite a ways off. Walking across the bridge could be so cold when the winter wind blew, but there was thankfully no wind. Lacey and Spot were able to cross the bridge with no difficulties.
However it seemed over too soon. They had crossed the bridge and now needed to part ways.
"Good luck in Harlem. I'll meet back up with you here in 'Hattan in about two or three hours?" That seemed about right. It was a long walk to and from Staten, but he knew he wouldn't take too long with Jack so it seemed like a reasonable amount of time for Lacey to find things in Harlem and come back too.

The walk across the bridge was nice, with Lacey's hand gripping onto Spot's for that small bit of extra warmth. It wasn't a terrible walk, with the weather being relatively calm despite how cold it still was. It absolutely could have been worse.
"Good luck in Harlem. I'll meet back up with you here in 'Hattan in about two or three hours?"
Chewing on her lip a bit at the suggestion, Lacey doubted herself just a tiny bit when it came to making that work. However, she had no choice. She would make it work. "I can try." She agreed, though she was a bit nervous to make promises and risk breaking it because she took too long.

"I can try."
Spot nodded, unaware of the side-plans Lacey had. He just assumed that things could take time in Harlem. After all, the leader of Harlem was a girl. Lacey probably would have some girl talk before asking important questions. Things that could take time.
"I'll see you in a bit," he replied as he headed toward the boys' lodge in hopes of finding Jack there.
