Once again, Lacey had pushed aside the thought of going to the Bronx for now. She knew that she would be able to report to Spot rather easily that she had been referred there and he wouldn't think twice about it. Now, she had to find Rip. She had to do something to help Spot in the long run, she knew that. She couldn't tell him what she was doing just yet, but she was only doing it to help. He would be furious if he knew that she broke her promise.
She figured that more or less hanging around the boy's lodge would mean that she was bound to run into Rip sometime. She had to get information, or she had to at least gain his trust. Things had gone well last time... and now, she just had more of a drive to do it for Spot. She just wanted to keep him safe.

Ace had finished his shift at work that day and thought he'd come see his friend in Queens before he went to see his little sister. He had looked around Rip's usual places but hadn't seen the guy. His best bet was to head to the lodge and see if he had headed there.
He was surprised, however, not to find Rip, but a young lady hanging around the lodge. He quirked a brow before walking over to her. He was tall like Rip but not as intimidating. Most recognized him since he was a friendly guy who was a friend to all no matter what borough. Upon closer inspection, he recognized Lacey. He had seen her before that is. He didn't know her name, but he did know she wasn't from here... it would be bad if the boys around here saw her. Well, he'd check and make sure she wouldn't get into trouble with Queens.
"Hey there. You lost?"

Lacey had to admit, when an unknown male had approached her, she had nearly just soaked him and run away. However, she managed to stand her ground and realize that she had seen this man before. As far as she knew, he wasn't from Queens.
"Uh, no. Just lookin'... for someone." She cleared her throat.
[Be back soon! Dinner.]

"Uh, no. Just lookin'... for someone."
Ace gave her a curious look. "Here?"
Who would she be looking for in Queens? Not that he would be meddling with her business, but Queens wasn't exactly the place to be.
He shrugged to himself. "Well, I'm actually lookin' for someone too. A close friend of mine."
((okie doke! I'll be around))

"Here?"
Lacey nodded. She wasn't entirely sure if she liked the fact that he was getting up in her business, even if it was just a little bit, but she didn't want to be rude.
"Well, I'm actually lookin' for someone too. A close friend of mine."
She nodded again. "Ah... good luck." Fate seemed to be leaving her side now again, but she was just desperate to get back to Manhattan on time. "Do ya know where Rip is?"

"Ah... good luck. Do ya know where Rip is?"
Ace pursed his lips. So that's why she was here... to find Rip? But what business would she have with--but no, he wouldn't ask. What she needed from Rip would be between her and Rip. He didn't want to get caught up in this.
"'fraid not. I was lookin' for him too," he admitted. Ace wasn't one to hide his relationship with Rip, even if it got people trying to get information about his friend through him.

"'fraid not. I was lookin' for him too,"
She swallowed thickly. He was friends with Rip?
"Do ya know... if he's plannin' somethin' specific against Brooklyn? Or against Spot?" Sure, maybe it was stupid to ask, but if Ace knew something that could give her good information, then she could get out of there early.

"Do ya know... if he's plannin' somethin' specific against Brooklyn? Or against Spot?"
Ace couldn't help but sigh. Isn't that what everyone wanted to know?
"Let's not discuss that here..." He glanced around, making sure no one was around. "Best talk back in Brooklyn."
Brooklyn was much closer than Bronx. It would be safer to talk somewhere there. Maybe at the academy or a resturant or something. Anywhere but in Queens.

"Let's not discuss that here... Best talk back in Brooklyn."
Her eyes widened. Did that mean that he knew something? She was about to nod, but she knew almost instantly that it would mean that she wouldn't be able to meet with Spot on time.
"Could we talk in Bronx instead? I kinda... Spot can't know that I came here. He'd kill me." Lacey bit her lip.

"Could we talk in Bronx instead? I kinda... Spot can't know that I came here. He'd kill me."
Ace bit his lip. Now this was serious... She was a Brooklynner. He should have seen that one coming, but no matter. "Bronx is farther away," he warned.
They could go to Bronx, but they would have a higher chance of being seen. Well, her being seen, and him seen as a traitor to the Queens' boys. Most of them didn't care for him and this would be a lovely excuse to soak him.

"Bronx is farther away,"
Lacey swallowed thickly. They were stuck in a tough situation, but she didn't want to risk talking about Queens issues on Brooklyn territory, especially trying to head through that border into Brooklyn. It was a border that was usually patrolled rather heavily, just because of the tension between the two boroughs. Someone would see her that way and tell Spot.
"With the path we'd have ta take to Brooklyn, I think Bronx is gonna be the better bet." She just wanted to leave Queens as quickly as possible now that she had a possible bit of information.

"With the path we'd have ta take to Brooklyn, I think Bronx is gonna be the better bet."
Ace could see her point but felt something was off. But again, it wasn't any of his business. He just nodded and motioned for her to stay close and follow him.
"Don't look around, keep your eyes forward," he whispered. "But if I tell you to run, run as fast you can to Bronx. I'll find you there somehow."
He hoped that it wouldn't come down to running, but you just never knew with Queens. The boys could be unpredictable, especially if Rip wasn't nearby.

"Don't look around, keep your eyes forward,"
Lacey bit her lip. Suddenly, the whole situation felt a bit more serious, but she was going to do exactly what she was told.
"But if I tell you to run, run as fast you can to Bronx. I'll find you there somehow."
Following after him silently, Lacey kept her eyes locked on him, hands curling up into fists. "What happens ta you if I run?"

"What happens ta you if I run?"
Ace didn't look down at her but gently guided her through Queens. "I'll probably get a soakin'."
It didn't really bother him as much as it probably should have. He was used to it by now and understood how dangerous Queens could be. Even now, out of the corner of his eye, he could see some of the Queens' boys. They hadn't seen them yet, thank goodness. Even if they did, Ace and Lacey could get lucky. They might not recognize Lacey as a Brooklynner. They just had to be careful as they headed for the border to Bronx.

"I'll probably get a soakin'."
Lacey's heart ached a bit, but it was too late to turn back now. She just did her best to look forward, never turning her head to the side and just focusing on getting through things. She didn't want things to come to that.

Things were silent as they made it into Bronx. Thankfully there had been no confrontations, but Ace knew the boys would give him hell when he headed back into Queens. He let out a soft sigh and turned to face Lacey now that they were in the safety of Bronx's borders.
"Before I answer any of your questions, I would like to know something first." He wasn't being unkind. He was just cautious. He knew the dangers of Rip's conflict with Spot. But he was also Rip's friend. He didn't betray his friends. "Why do you want to know about this?"

"Before I answer any of your questions, I would like to know something first."
Lacey bit her lip. Of course there was bound to be some sort of confrontation about her reasoning.
"Why do you want to know about this?"
There it was, the million dollar question. She sighed softly, "Because I love Spot. Because I don't know what I'll do if I lose him or he gets hurt when I could've warned him somehow." She felt stupid, using reasons like this, but it was the truth. "Because I can't let him get hurt. I don't want them to fight, I just want to keep him safe."

"Because I love Spot. Because I don't know what I'll do if I lose him or he gets hurt when I could've warned him somehow."
Ace's eyes softened at her answer. Her reason was different from others. Most people were just nosey. Others wanted know for political reasons. She was doing it out of love and care.
"Well, that's a different story altogether," he said quietly.
"Because I can't let him get hurt. I don't want them to fight, I just want to keep him safe."
He nodded. "I don't want them to fight either."

"Well, that's a different story altogether,"
It was really hard, knowing that Spot could be in danger at any moment and she would be able to do nothing about it. Lacey wasn't a fighter. She didn't soak people, she was just good at running. That was all that she had really ever done. If Rip came after Spot, then she would fight with everything that she had to keep him safe, but she didn't think that she could do much regardless.
"I don't want them to fight either."
She nodded a bit, dropping her gaze to the ground. "I just want people to get along... but the last time that I tried helping, I almost lost him over it."

"I just want people to get along..."
He gazed off into the distance and nodded slightly. "All of us want that deep down inside."
"But the last time that I tried helping, I almost lost him over it."
Ace raised an eyebrow, but he wouldn't pry. "What do you want to know about Rip?"
It was time to answer her questions... and hopefully see how he could keep Rip away from Spot.

"All of us want that deep down inside."
Lacey nodded a bit, running her fingers through her hair. She hated that peace had to be so difficult to achieve.
"What do you want to know about Rip?"
"I need to know if he has any sort of plan against Spot... or what I could give him to make sure that Spot didn't get hurt." She bit her lip. If she could make some sort of sacrifice to keep him safe, then she would in a heartbeat.

"I need to know if he has any sort of plan against Spot..."
Ace pursed his lips. "He does... have some sort of plan. But that's something even I don't know."
"Or what I could give him to make sure that Spot didn't get hurt."
He shook his head sadly. "There's only one thing you could give him that would keep him from hurting Spot... but that's something no one can give him."

"He does... have some sort of plan. But that's something even I don't know."
Lacey cursed under her breath. She had figured that there had been some sort of plan, but if Rip hadn't even told his close friend about it, then odds were that he hadn't told anyone.
"There's only one thing you could give him that would keep him from hurting Spot... but that's something no one can give him."
"I'll give it. Whatever it is, I'll do it." She blurted out almost instantly. Whatever it was, Lacey would find a way to give it to him. If it kept Spot safe, then that was all that she needed to be happy.

"I'll give it. Whatever it is, I'll do it."
Ace was honestly surprised at her reaction. He didn't realize how serious she was. However, no matter how serious she was, she wouldn't be able to give it.
"You don't understand," he said gently. "It's something no one can give or do."
If it had been possible, Ace would have done it years ago.

"You don't understand. It's something no one can give or do."
Lacey frowned a bit. What could it possibly be? She didn't know if he was being serious because the thing didn't exist, or if he just wasn't realizing the magnitude of what she would give up to keep Spot safe, but she didn't like the expression on his face.
"I'd give my life for him. In a heartbeat." She whispered, clearing her throat and running her fingers through her hair. "What is it?"
