By the time that Jack and Spot has gotten back to the lodge, Spot was looking as though he could just pass out at any moment. Kloppman, who had been checking in the log book and getting things organized for that night, seemed to realize the same thing.
“Kloppman, Spot here’s has a tough night. Could we get ‘im a bed for a rest while I sell?” Jack asked, clearing his throat and digging some coins from his pocket for the old man.
Kloppman responded with a smile, nodding up the stairs to the waiting beds. “Ya don’t have ta pay to give someone as tired as him a nap, Kelly.”
So, with that, Jack flashed him a grateful smile and turned back to Spot. “Let’s get ya upstairs.”

Spot was too tired to really pay attention to what Jack and Mr. Kloppman were saying. He heard something about "pay" and "nap," but most of it was all jumbled up in his mind. He absentmindedly placed some coins on the front desk as Jack led him upstairs. Though, how the two made it upstairs, Spot would never remember. He was just too tired.

Jack helped Spot up the stairs, making sure that he didn't trip on the way up, beside leading him up to one of the beds near the doorway. He knew that Boots wasn't bound to mind that Spot was using his bed for a while.
"Get some sleep, alright? I'll be back when I'm done selling." He hoped that Spot would be able to get some good sleep before then.

"Get some sleep, alright? I'll be back when I'm done selling."
Spot barely registered what Jack said to him as he plopped down on the bed the Manhattan leader led him to. He didn't even have the energy to nod back. He was already asleep.

Once he was sure that Spot was asleep, Jack finally left the lodging house, thanking Kloppman on his way out. He would finish his selling as early as he could that day, and then be back before nightfall to check up on Spot and try getting a clearer idea of what might be going on and what they were going to do.

If it weren't for the fact he was so tired, Spot wouldn't have been able to sleep in Manhattan. He usually didn't sleep well whenever he had to stay in Manhattan. Today, however, was different. Everything that had happened the day before and the lack of sleep on top of that had just exhausted him. This might actually be the best sleep he had gotten in a long time.
He felt refreshed as he woke up. A quick splash of water on his face helped him gain full consciousness... but now what?

By the time that night had begun to set in, the sunlight beginning to leave the sky and paint it with beautiful pink, purple and orange hues, Jack had finally finished his selling of the evening edition. It hadn't been too difficult, and it was good to finally be done. Now, he had to go find Spot.
When he got back to the lodging house, he found the bed that Spot had been in empty, and found the leader back by the sinks and bathrooms. "You're awake." He commented.

"You're awake."
Spot saw Jack come in in the reflection of the mirror. He shrugged as he dried his face. "Yeah... sellin' go well?"
He knew that wasn't what Jack wanted to talk about, but he was still not fully ready to talk. He had slept, yes... he just wasn't ready to relive the previous day.

"Yeah... sellin' go well?"
If he was going to be honest, Spot still didn't look quite like his normal self. Well rested, sure, but still not quite... Spot.
"Yeah, it was just a normal day." He shrugged. "We should get ya somethin' ta eat and get ya a bed ta stay in tonight."

"Yeah, it was just a normal day."
Spot nodded some, glad he hadn't interfered with Jack's day too much.
"We should get ya somethin' ta eat and get ya a bed ta stay in tonight."
Food. He hadn't even thought about eating. "Not really hungry..." he mumbled. "But yeah... I'm probably gonna stay tanight..."

"Not really hungry..."
Jack bit his lip. Food was only bound to be a good thing, considering Spot had slept through the whole day, but perhaps just something like coffee could be fine. Besides, Spot loved coffee, and it would at least give him something for energy the next day.
"How about a cafe then? We could get somethin' light. I'll pay. Ya just need somethin'."
"But yeah... I'm probably gonna stay tanight..."
Jack nodded. That seemed like the best idea to him, as well, just considering how exhausted Spot seemed. "Good idea."

"How about a cafe then? We could get somethin' light. I'll pay. Ya just need somethin'."
Spot didn't feel like arguing, even though he was quite sure he didn't need to eat anything. He just nodded.
"Good idea."
He stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Prob head to Staten tomorrow."

"Prob head to Staten tomorrow."
Jack nodded again. Whatever was going on, it would be best for Thunder to know about it. Besides, Thunder could do more against Rip if he had to than Jack could.

Spot pursed his lips. This silence wouldn't do either of them any good. He needed to talk eve if it wasn't about the past day.
"Shall we head out? We got a lot ta talk about..."

"Shall we head out? We got a lot ta talk about..."
Jack nodded, gesturing back towards the exit with his head. "Let's go." He agreed.
With that, they headed out once again towards a nearby cafe.

"Let's go."
Spot made no objection as the two headed to the cafe. He might not want to discuss things... but he knew it was due time. He was tired of all this.
After they sat down, Spot ordered a coffee and a biscuit. Even if he wasn't hungry, he knew he should try to eat something before drinking his coffee.

Once they were seated at the cafe, Jack stuck with a simple cup of some sort of tea that they would brew and a relatively simple croissant. While he might have been hungry, he didn't have money to pay for a big dinner for himself and still do well selling the next day. He would have to wait and he didn't mind.
As the waiter walked away to get their things, Jack sat back in his seat. "So... explain what happened ta me again."

"So... explain what happened ta me again."
Spot stared at his coffee cup, not sure exactly where to begin. "I was at the docks like usual after sellin'... an' all the sudden Rip stormed in draggin' Lacey behind him."
It wasn't a very good thing to start with, but that was how it all started and fell apart.

"I was at the docks like usual after sellin'... an' all the sudden Rip stormed in draggin' Lacey behind him."
Jack blinked. "So Rip just stormed inta Brooklyn? With no real reason at all?"
That didn't sound like the Queens leader at all. He and Spot stayed out of one another's boroughs, and if they ever went in there, it meant that things were about to end badly. He wouldn't just go in and then leave.

"So Rip just stormed inta Brooklyn? With no real reason at all?"
Spot quickly shook his head as he sipped his coffee. "No... he had a reason... It was Lacey." He frowned a little. "I don't understand that part... Lacey promised she wouldn't go inta Queens. So why was she with Rip?"
There were too many unanswered questions.

"No... he had a reason... It was Lacey."
Jack bit his lip once again. It wasn't good that other people seemed to be getting involved. It only meant that more people could end up getting hurt in the final fight that had been building up for so long.
"I don't understand that part... Lacey promised she wouldn't go inta Queens. So why was she with Rip?"
"Well, Rip isn't only in Queens all the time, you know. He just doesn't go to Brooklyn." Jack pointed out. He figured that it was still possible that Lacey had just broken her promise, but he didn't want Spot to think too hard about it when there could be another explanation.

"Well, Rip isn't only in Queens all the time, you know. He just doesn't go to Brooklyn."
Spot frowned. He knew that was true... but it still bothered him. "Rip did say somethin' though... to the effect of keepin' Lacey out of this and letin' things be just between me and 'im."
He took a small nibble of his biscuit. "I guess Lacey might have said somethin' that made him fumin' angry..."

"Rip did say somethin' though... to the effect of keepin' Lacey out of this and letin' things be just between me and 'im."
Jack frowned. "What do ya think that means?"
Of course, he knew that it could just mean that Lacey was trying to talk Rip out of hurting Spot, which was what he suspected... but Spot seemed to be overthinking things a bit.
"I guess Lacey might have said somethin' that made him fumin' angry..."
He furrowed his brows. "Maybe she's just tryin' ta protect you?"

"What do ya think that means?"
Spot shrugged. "I don't know... he just said that he kept his people out of so I should do the same." He rubbed his temples. "I'm jus' tellin' you what he said."
"Maybe she's just tryin' ta protect you?"
There was a slight scowl tugging at his lips. "I told her ta stay out of it..." He mumbled under his breath. "I can take care of myself..."
He had a bit of a complex. As leader of Brooklyn, he was on the small side compared to most of the boys. He had to push his way to the top and show his worth. What sort of leader would he be if he couldn't protect himself?

"I don't know... he just said that he kept his people out of so I should do the same."
Jack sighed. All of this was too complicated. The past was in the past, why were they both so inclined to dwell on it?
"I'm jus' tellin' you what he said."
He bit his lip with another nod. "I get that."
"I told her ta stay out of it... I can take care of myself..."
Jack sighed once again, "Spot, that ain't how datin' works. She ain't gonna just let someone think about attackin' you and stay out of it because ya tell her to. Goils ain't like that."
