"I get that."
Spot raised an eyebrow as he sipped some more of his coffee. He was slowly starting to feel more like himself.
"Spot, that ain't how datin' works. She ain't gonna just let someone think about attackin' you and stay out of it because ya tell her to. Goils ain't like that."
He sighed, starting to feel tired again. This was just more than he could handle now.

Jack sighed when he was met with silence, instead electing to take a sip of his tea and a bite of the croissant.
"I'm just sayin'... she cares about ya. That should be a good thing." He mumbled.

"I'm just sayin'... she cares about ya. That should be a good thing."
Spot just sighed. "I'm not sayin' it's a bad thing..." He set his coffee cup down. He had only drunk half, but he didn't think he could drink the rest. "I jus' feel that she doesn't need me."
He dug in his pockets for some change to pay for his biscuit and coffee. Jack had offered to pay; however, Spot felt that he should at least pitch in a little. Jack had been too kind already.

"I'm not sayin' it's a bad thing..."
Jack was a bit confused, considering it had seemed as though that was exactly what Spot had been saying.
"I jus' feel that she doesn't need me."
His heart sank a bit. "What's that supposed ta mean, she 'doesn't need you'?"

"What's that supposed ta mean, she 'doesn't need you'?"
Spot pursed his lips some as he stood up. "I'm not sure," he started slowly, "but I'm pretty sure it mean what it means."
His voice was soft and tired. He wasn't angry. He was just tired... and hurting.
"I might just head to Staten before it gets dark. Thanks for lettin' me stay a bit at the lodge."

"I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure it mean what it means."
Jack frowned again. What was he going on about?
"Spot, I don't like the way you're talkin'." Sure, it wasn't really any of his business, but he was concerned for the guy.
"I might just head to Staten before it gets dark. Thanks for lettin' me stay a bit at the lodge."
Jack opened his mouth to object, but decided against it with a sad sigh. "Be careful."

"Spot, I don't like the way you're talkin'."
Not that Spot could blame him. He didn't know all the in's and out's of what was happening between him and Lacey. "I've been thinkin' real hard about it, Jack. And I think I've made up my mind about all this."
"Be careful."
He nodded. "I will... it ain't a long walk."
Right now, he needed to be around family. While Thunder might not say what Spot wanted to hear, he knew his brother would understand things better than anyone else.

"I've been thinkin' real hard about it, Jack. And I think I've made up my mind about all this."
Jack swallowed thickly. As much as he might have wanted to get involved in such matters, it wasn't any of his business what Spot did with his girl.
"I will... it ain't a long walk."
He nodded. "I hope you'll stop by again soon then... it's always good hearin' from ya."

"I hope you'll stop by again soon then... it's always good hearin' from ya."
Spot nodded. "I'll swing by on my way back ta Brooklyn."
After all, there would be a lot of decisions made after he went to Staten, and Jack would always be the first to know about things dealing with Brooklyn.

"I'll swing by on my way back ta Brooklyn."
Jack nodded again, paying for the rest of the bill and heading out of the cafe with him. The sky was getting dim, but Spot could make it to Staten if he left soon enough.
"Good luck." He sighed.

"Good luck."
Spot gave him a small, grim nod. "I'll be needin' it... Later, Jack."
He gave the Manhattan leader another nod as the two went their separate ways. It was a long walk to Staten, but he would make it before it got too dark.

It concerned Jack just a bit to see that Spot seemed to be getting so exhausted again, but he didn't want to say anything about it. If he thought that he could make it to Staten, then he would trust that. Besides, he had made it to Manhattan like that.
Once they had reached the lodge, however, he turned back to face Spot. "Ya sure ya don't wanna stay here tanight and visit Staten in the morning?"

"Ya sure ya don't wanna stay here tanight and visit Staten in the morning?"
Spot nodded again. "I'm sure... Thanks for everything."
And that was that, it was time to head "home."

Jack nodded. "Of course... you're always welcome if ya need time away."

"Of course... you're always welcome if ya need time away."
Spot gave Jack a small smile. The Manhattan leader was definitely a kind soul. He was grateful that he could call him friend. With a quick nod of goodbye, he was off to Staten.

Jack waited outside of the lodge for just a few more moments once Spot had left, waiting until he was out of sight and off on his way towards Staten before finally heading inside. Hopefully, everything would turn out well.
