It wasn't even close to being the end of the day... and Cloud was tired and stressed. It was barely halfway into selling the morning edition, but he was ready to call it quits. It wasn't as if he was getting any selling done. All the boys had been hounding him all day. Asking about Spot and about how long the leader would be gone and what they should do if Rip came.
There had just been too many questions that Cloud couldn't answer. He was just supposed to be a bird... not the second-in-command. He didn't want to be in leadership. He wasn't cut out for it, and the others didn't mind telling that to his face.
Right now, he just needed a breather. So here he was at the distribution center, looking for a place to hide away from the other boys.

Initially, when Lacey had woken up from perhaps the half an hour of sleep that she had gotten the night before, she had wanted to go find Spot. She was hoping that it would be easy, and that maybe he would seek her out or something so that they could really talk about what had happened with Rip the day before... but everyone was instead talking about how Spot had disappeared from Brooklyn entirely. Perhaps it was the amount of sleep deprivation that she was dealing with, but Lacey had been stumbling around all day trying to find him. She looked like a mess, and while she knew it, she didn't have the energy to care.
If Spot had vanished, he had to have gone to Queens. That was the only thought running through her muddled mind.
So, when she had spotted Cloud at the distribution center, she had quickly approached him, though her feet seemed to drag regardless. The world felt hazy, but there was nothing that she could do about that. She couldn't sleep when Spot was gone.
"I need you to take me to Queens."

"I need you to take me to Queens."
Cloud was surprised to be found so easily, but then again, maybe he shouldn't have been surprised. The question was what really surprised him. He looked at Lacey with owlish eyes.
"I can't... Spot put me in charge for the day." He licked his lips. "No one's supposed to go anywhere near Queens until he comes back from 'Hattan."
Not that he really expected Lacey to listen to him. No one really listened to him unless Mr. O'Quinns or Spot backed him up. He wasn't really in charge, but that's why he liked being a bird. He wasn't in a position of leadership. He was free to be himself and not worry about telling others what to do.

"I can't... Spot put me in charge for the day."
Lacey blinked once. She wasn't surprised that he would put Cloud in charge if he was going to leave, but she was a bit surprised that he would do so without even saying a word to her that he was leaving.
"No one's supposed to go anywhere near Queens until he comes back from 'Hattan."
She blinked again. Spot was in Manhattan? Why was he there? Had he really just left her there? "Are ya sure he's in 'Hattan?"
A part of her wanted to believe that there could be nothing fishy going on, but with her exhaustion setting in once again, her mind was so muddled that it was hard to really think straight. "I should go find him." She mumbled, turning to silently head away from the distribution center.
If he was in Queens for whatever reason, she had to find him and make sure that he was okay.

"Are ya sure he's in 'Hattan?"
Cloud nodded firmly. "Walked across the bridge wit' him."
The guy had looked so tired that Cloud knew he couldn't let the leader across the bridge alone. He wouldn't get far.
"I should go find him."
He pursed his lips. He wasn't sure if that was a goo idea... He wanted to keep an eye on Lacey because that was one of his duties as a bird, but he couldn't leave Brooklyn while he stood in for Spot.
"I-I don't know about that," he called out hesitantly. "Spot looked real tired..."

"Walked across the bridge wit' him."
Lacey bit her lip. It was definitely going the long way around that way if Spot had gone to Queens... but he could have made it, right? Maybe that was just his way of getting everyone not to worry?
"I-I don't know about that. Spot looked real tired..."
She turned back only briefly with a small sigh. "All the more reason ta find 'im... he ain't bound ta be thinkin' straight if he's tired."
Perhaps it would be best to find Ace in Hoboken first. He could help her find Spot.

"All the more reason ta find 'im... he ain't bound ta be thinkin' straight if he's tired."
Cloud sighed. "I know... but I don't think he'd get far tired either. He said somethin' about seein' Jack while over there."
He hated feeling so powerless... that was why he preferred being a bird and was hiding to begin with. He didn't have all the answers when it came to Spot.

"I know... but I don't think he'd get far tired either. He said somethin' about seein' Jack while over there."
Lacey huffed a bit. She was still exhausted, and while it made it difficult to think straight, all that she wanted to do was to know that Spot was okay. Why would he just randomly leave Brooklyn without saying a thing? It just didn't sit right with her.
"I'll be back, okay? If he comes back while I'm gone tell 'im I went ta Hoboken."

"I'll be back, okay? If he comes back while I'm gone tell 'im I went ta Hoboken."
Cloud looked at her in surprise. "Hoboken?"
Why would she need to go there? Spot was in Manhattan... No matter the reason, he would send someone to watch her just in case since he couldn't go himself. Spot would never forgive him if something happened to Lacey.

"Hoboken?"
Lacey responded with another nod, though even just doing that seemed to be enough to drain her energy even more. "Hoboken." She repeated.
With that, she headed out to find Ace once again.

"Hoboken."
Cloud was still confused, even if Lacey seemed sure about going there. He would just have to send a bird to keep an eye on her.
