The whole walk was rather silent except for an occasional sigh from Lacey or himself. It seemed both knew all too well that this was the beginning of things changing a little more than either had expected. Each step reminded them that they were getting closer to the end of their walk.
Despite it being a long walk, it seemed all too soon they had arrived in front of the girls' lodge. Spot was reluctantly to let go of Lacey's hand...
"Well... here we are."

By the time that they had arrived at the girl's lodge, Lacey felt her grip on Spot's hand almost instinctively tightening a bit, not really wanting this to be the end of what was more than likely their last walk together for a long time.
"Well... here we are."
She swallowed thickly, nodding and turning her gaze back towards him. She was sure that the sadness was written all over her face, but she didn't know how to hide it. "Yeah... here we are."

"Yeah... here we are."
Spot avoided looking directly at her as he nodded. He was afraid to look, and reveal how he was struggling. "Yeah... um, have a nice um evening," was all he could mumble.

"Yeah... um, have a nice um evening,"
Lacey swallowed thickly. It seemed as though Spot was eager to just end things here without drawing them out any further and risking things getting awkward, so she finally removed her hand from his and swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat.
"You too, Spot." She mumbled, turning and heading up the steps to the lodge in silence.

"You too, Spot."
He hated how awful the two of them sounded. Things just weren't going the way either had expected. "I'll see you around," he said quietly.
Spot watched her enter the lodge and as the door shut behind her, he made his way towards his own destination.
