Crackerjack was nervous. Probably why she was hours early for the leader meeting. After the meeting got rescheduled, she just felt so nervous about everything. Rip had met up with her while passing her small borough into his own borough. He had been civil, but he did have quite the presence. It made her worried about the meeting. Was something up? She hadn't had any suspicions when Jack had told her about the meeting. She had simply been told it was about borders, but after seeing Rip, it made her wonder.
For now, she just waited inside the music hall, purchasing a few sweets from Toby until the others began arriving.

Rebel wasn't one to explore other boroughs. Long Island had tended to stay within their own borders. However, with this meeting, it was time to enter new places. The previous leader had mentioned that it would be a good idea to get to know the other leaders and get to know the "politics" so to speak. And, Rebel thought that sounded interesting and perhaps a bit fun. He liked playing these sort of "games," so he had come early to the rescheduled meeting to get a scope of how things were.
So far, it seemed like he was the only early unless that girl loitering about was a leader. He wasn't sure if she was a leader, but judging from her body language, she seemed nervous like she was waiting for something. He had heard that there were one or two girl leaders in the other boroughs. She might very likely be one. Only one way to find out, he supposed.
"Hello there," he greeted.

"Hello there."
Already a bit on edge, Crackerjack almost screamed when a strange young man greeted her. It took a lot to calm her nerves and look pleasant. "H-Hi..." She just hoped her voice didn't squeak too much. With everything going on, she just felt antsy, and well, this young man was not a familiar face. It definitely wasn't helping her feel any better. Who could he be?

Rebel arched an eyebrow at the girl's stutter and all around nervousness. She was as nervous as he had observed.
"I'm Rebel," he greeted politely and held out his hand. "I was wondering if I'd be able to find Jack here?"
It was best to play it safe just in case she wasn't a fellow leader. He was rarely wrong about these sort of things, but he didn't like playing it too risky, at least, not yet. He gave the girl a friendly smile in an attempt to make her feel a little less intimidated.

"I'm Rebel."
Crackerjack blinked in surprise. That wasn't a name she was familiar with... Harlem was a small borough and closely connected with Manhattan. She knew almost all the boys' names or, at least, their faces. This guy certainly wasn't a familiar face.
"I was wondering if I'd be able to find Jack here?"
Now that was another surprise. He was looking for Jack? Could he be looking for trouble? Or maybe... he was a leader too? Yet somehow that name "Rebel" really wasn't ringing a bell. She was feeling rather suspicious. Maybe it was still the nerves...
"And you're from?" she asked, eyes narrowed at the strange newcomer.

Her suspicious expression didn't phase Rebel. He merely smiled. "Long Island. And you're from?"
It was best to collect as much information as possible before the meeting. He knew what little the previous leader had been able to provide, so this was not an opportunity to miss.

"Long Island. And you're from?"
Crackerjack frowned slightly. Long Island? She didn't know many faces from that borough... the last time she saw anyone from there was during the strike. What would someone from Long Island be doing here? Unless...
Her eyes narrowed once more. "Harlem," she answered cautiously, trying to gauge what this guy wanted. He had to be either a spy or a leader... she wasn't sure which. Either way, she knew she didn't really care for him at the moment. He was suspicious. Long Island wasn't one to stick their noses in other borough's business.

He raised an eyebrow. Harlem. That was close to Manhattan if he remembered correctly. One of the smaller boroughs. Not much of a threat, but still interesting if this girl was their leader.
"I assume you are familiar with this place, yes?" He asked, being as friendly and conversational as possible. "I was hoping to be a little early for the leaders meeting."
It might be jumping the gun so to speak so mention the meeting. After all, Jack had rescheduled the meeting due to someone leaking information about the meeting. But Rebel wasn't really worried about getting in trouble with Jack. He was positive that this girl was a leader, so there would be no real harm. Especially since they were the only two within earshot.

"I assume you are familiar with this place, yes?"
Crackerjack pursed her lips and gave him a slight nod. Harlem was very close to Manhattan, so she and her newsies often visited the bigger, friendly borough.
"I was hoping to be a little early for the leaders meeting."
Her ears reddened in embarrassment. She had thought he was a spy... not really a leader. She felt guilty for suspecting him, but he was just so.. suspicious. He didn't feel as friendly as Jack nor had that feeling of respect like Spot. He was just different... and suspicious.
She cleared her throat a little. "I'm actually here for the meetin' too. I think we both are a little early."

Rebel was glad to see Crackerjack nod. He was glad that he had guessed correctly about her knowing the theatre well.
He felt even more smug as the girl admitted that she was here for the meeting. She just had the feeling of being a leader. "That is good to hear. Could you point me in the right direction? I would like to get a better idea of what this place is like."

Despite his friendliness, Crackerjack still felt a little wary of Rebel. Maybe it was because he was new. She'd get over it eventually. This whole leader business was just doing awful things to her nerves. She just nodded at him and pointed down the hallway to where the meeting would be held.
"It's over there..."

Rebel gave the girl a polite nod as he headed toward the direction she had pointed out. While he would have loved to have been able to get some more information from her about leaders, he did not wish to make Crackerjack more uncomfortable than she already was. He would just have to find a different source for now. Perhaps later, he could go back and get to know her.
For now, he would enter the meeting room.
