Name: Elizabeth Tate
Nickname: Silky
Age: 16
Birthday: January 11th
Height: 5'6"
Borough: Manhattan
Occupation: newsie, book lover/library volunteer part-time
Personality: Silky is known for being extremely sweet and shy, often times not speaking to people unless she's spoken to first. She has a sarcastic side, and she's perfectly prepared to defend herself, taking pride in being able to insult people with words that make it so that they don't even know that they're being insulted. Most of the time, she's shy and quite bashful, being often times described as "adorable." If she gets angry about something, however, she has a rage that can easily become dangerous, leaving her sweet side behind completely.
Description: Silky has dark brown hair that goes a bit further than her shoulders in waves, although her hair can become quite curly when it gets wet and barely begins drying. She's tall and slim, often being described as having a willowy sort of figure. She's strong, although only about average strength when it comes to a girl and her being in her normal sort of personality. She has warm brown eyes and soft features.
Skills, Talents, Hobbies: Silky is able to read extremely well, and comprehend what she's reading beyond the point of many of the other female newsies that she knows - or males, for that matter, although she doesn't know a ton of them. She's quite strong and she's able to defend herself quite well, keeping herself from being soaked or assaulted or anything of the sort quite easily. In her spare time, she's often found at the library, looking through the books that they have there, or cleaning some things up.
Background: Silky was abandoned on the front steps of the lodging house when she was four years old, her parents not willing to take care of a child, already having three older children to feed and such. They left her there with a note begging for her to be taken in and taken care of, which she was without much of a problem at all. She grew up with quite a few of the other newsies helping her to read and such, which she found a passion for at quite a young age. When she turned seven, she was able to read well enough to go out and start selling papers, finding one of her own spots and going there every day to sell her papers to make a living for herself. However, putting her love of reading and books to good use, she began helping out from time to time at the Manhattan library. Silky's closest friend out of anyone is Specs from Manhattan, both of them having similar interests and such.
