Things hadn't exactly gone as planned at the leader's meeting, but they had gotten things done. The borders had been decided, and all the leaders had seemed content with how the lines would be drawn. Rip had seemed content with the new lines... but he was obviously not thrilled when Spot announced that he was retiring as leader. And after the meeting, the guy had pulled him aside for brief word. It was quick. Very quick. In fact, Rip didn't exactly say anything which was why Jack had not noticed that anything had happened. It was all in Rip's eyes. He was not happy with Spot's pulling out of the newsie life and he had made it very clear with just one look and a few choice words.
Spot could only sigh as he looked down at the waters below. He would have thought that after the storm things would be better. He was wrong. It seemed as if this was only the beginning of his troubles. It seemed like the transition of leadership would be more trouble than he had originally thought.

Bridges had been trying to give Spot some space. He didn't really know what had happened after the meeting with Spot and Rip, but he knew better than to get up in his business. He looks at the dark water, leaning on the railing to collect his thoughts.

Spot was pulled out of his thoughts as he noticed some movement out of the corner of his eye. He had briefly forgotten that Bridges was with him...
He cleared his throat. "Bridges, you can head back inta Brooklyn. Start organizing our new borders. Don't want Queens gettin' angry for us not followin' the new lines."
Later, he would go around to make things had been straightened out and have a word with the other birds about the new lines as well. But for now, he trusted Bridges to get things started.

"Bridges, you can head back inta Brooklyn. Start organizing our new borders." He nods, sticking his hands into his pockets.
"Don't want Queens gettin' angry for us not followin' the new lines."
"Queens is already angry at us, bottom line." Bridges crosses his arms before realizing he said that out loud. "... Sorry. I'll go do that."

"Queens is already angry at us, bottom line."
Spot shot him a warning look. "Watch it, Bridges." He had to bite his tongue to keep back some sharper comments. He really didn't need to give Bridges any more pressure. Somehow, he needed to handle Queens so the kid wouldn't have to worry about them as much once he was officially leader.
"... Sorry. I'll go do that."
He gave him another warning look. "Jus' focus on the borders, nothin' else. Queens is my business for now."
It wouldn't do if Bridges got caught up in a mess with Queens before he even became leader. Spot wanted to have a smooth transition for Brooklyn, if that was even possible.

"Watch it, Bridges."
He flinches a bit, barely. "Sorry. I'll keep my tongue in check." He really didn't mean to lash out at his boss. Though, he technically wouldn't be his boss much longer... he pushes that thought out of the limelight. There's a familiar pit in the bottom of his stomach.
"Jus' focus on the borders, nothin' else. Queens is my business for now."
He nods, straightening up. "Got it." He turns, slowly walking towards Brooklyn. It's time to take lead. Under Spot's orders, but this time it would be a bit more like the real deal.

"Sorry. I'll keep my tongue in check."
Spot sighed. "It's all right... I should be keepin' my temper in check anyway."
Queens was just a really sore subject. And well, he didn't want to get Bridges on the bad side of Queens.
"Got it."
He pursed his lips as Bridges started heading back to their borough. It was good that he seemed to understand things. He was becoming more and more like a leader, which was a good thing. Spot was slowly letting him slip into his new position. In a month or two, Bridges would have full reign.
