Brooklyn was the last place she ever wanted to see again. Yet, here she was. She had wanted to avoid the place ever since she first came back to New York, but things had changed. She couldn't keep running from this forever. She had heard things... Spot stepping down. New borders and such. It was all... well, it was all her fault that things had gotten to this point. If only she had done things differently... it was too late now. But there was still something she could do.
She was going to see her cousin. Well, that was the plan. But if she really wanted to meet her cousin, she'd be at the distribution center, the lodge, or the even the docks, not here in the park. Spot wouldn't be here... She needed to see him. She just couldn't summon up the courage to actually speak to him. Maybe she could just drop a note for him at the lodge instead...

If she was going to be completely honest, Darcy was the last person that Lacey had ever expected to see. She had thought that there would be no way that Darcy would ever come back after the last time, and so when she had spotted a familiar face while she was out selling at her usual spot in the park, shock immediately overtook her features.
"Hey!" She called out, jogging up to the still relatively unfamiliar girl. "You lookin' for Spot?"

"Hey!"
Darcy nearly jumped out of her skin. She hadn't expected anyone to call out to her. She had been hoping no one would even notice her... especially since she came through Manhattan. But then again, with the changed borders, she should have known better.
"You lookin' for Spot?"
She quickly shook her head. She was most definitely not looking for Spot. In fact, she was still trying to avoid him.
"I'm na lookin' for anyone," she said truthfully. "Jus'... jus' walkin'."
At least, for now she was. She hadn't been able to pull herself to at least go to the lodge to leave her cousin the note in her pocket.

"I'm na lookin' for anyone," she said truthfully. "Jus'... jus' walkin'."
Lacey deflated just a bit. While she hadn't expected much different, a part of her had been hoping that maybe things would have changed since last time.
"You, uh..." She frowned, swallowing the lump in her throat. "Spot really misses you."

"You, uh... Spot really misses you."
Darcy cracked a somewhat bitter smile. "Yah... I heard tha." News traveled rather fast in New York, especially in the smaller, quiet boroughs like Bronx and Harlem.
It was that news that had brought her hear to be honest. Her fears were somewhat subsided knowing that her cousin actually seemed to have missed her. But after all that had happened... she still couldn't face him, even if he did miss her.
That did bring up a good question though. Darcy squinted a little at the girl beside. Who exactly was this girl? While Darcy had heard about Spot missing her, she had kept herself from hearing any other news about Brooklyn (of course, other than the border issue). So, how did this girl know who she was and about her relationship with Spot?
"Who are ya?" she asked rather bluntly, curiosity getting the better of her.

"Yah... I heard that."
Lacey's smile faltered just a bit. "Don't you miss him too?"
"Who are ya?"
She bit her lip. She didn't know exactly what the question was asking, or how much information she was asking for, but Lacey didn't want to bring up her exact relationship with Spot unless she had to. She didn't want to risk it scaring Darcy away.
"Lacey... I'm a boid."

"Don't you miss him too?"
Darcy avoided Lacey's eyes. "I do. I jus' do na tell people."
"Lacey... I'm a boid."
She arched an eyebrow, slightly surprised. Darcy would have thought Spot wouldn't like having girls as birds, but the again, she had been gone a long time. Spot probably changed. After all, she had changed quite a bit herself.
"Nica ta meet ya... I guess."
Darcy wasn't sure how she felt about Lacey. She seemed to know a lot about her, and well, Darcy didn't know anything about Lacey. But, since she was a bird... she supposed she could just hand off the letter for Lacey to give to Spot.

"I do. I jus' do na tell people."
Lacey nodded slowly. She understood, in a sense, but she still knew that Spot would definitely have loved to hear it from her.
"Nice ta meet ya... I guess."
She nodded a bit, sighing a bit. "Why won't ya talk ta Spot?"

"Why won't ya talk ta Spot?"
Darcy frowned. "Why do ya want ta know? It is na your business," she said a bit sharply before wincing. "Sorry..." she mumbled. "I did na mean ta lash out at ya."
Despite being rather bold, brash, and forward, Darcy was actually a rather private person. She didn't care for people knowing about her personal business.
"Look... I do na want ta talk ta him, but I have somethin' I need ta give him." She pursed her lips. "Since ya are a boid..." She pulled out the envelope from her pocket. "Could ya give this ta him?"

"Why do ya want ta know? It is na your business,"
Lacey flinched a bit, looking away with a huff. It seemed as though Darcy didn't want to talk about her old life, but it was better than her running away again.
"Sorry... I did na mean ta lash out at ya."
She shook her head. "It's fine. Ain't a bad thing."
"Look... I do na want ta talk ta him, but I have somethin' I need ta give him."
Lacey tilted her head, brows furrowing in confusion. "What do ya mean?"
"Since ya are a boid... Could ya give this ta him?"
Slowly, Lacey reached out and took the envelope. "Yeah... I'll make sure he gets it."

"It's fine. Ain't a bad thing."
Darcy shrugged. As long as Lacey understood that she didn't mean to, she wouldn't make a comment.
"What do ya mean?"
She sighed. "Jus' give this ta him, okay?"[/i]
"Yeah... I'll make sure he gets it."
Darcy looked relieved at her answer. "Thanks..."

"Jus' give this ta him, okay?"
She bit her lip, slowly nodding.
"Thanks..."
Lacey nodded again, reluctantly taking a step back. "He'd love ta see ya again one day... hope you can give 'im that."
And with that, Lacey headed off to find Spot.

"He'd love ta see ya again one day... hope you can give 'im that."
Darcy bit her lip, shaking her head some as Lacey left. She was afraid she could never give him that... not Thunder or Jasper either. But at least she found a way to give Spot the letter without actually coming into contact with him.
She just hoped he would respond to her letter in the same way. If he actually came, well, she wasn't about to let them meet. They would never meet if she could help it.
