Things had been quiet lately. Time had seemed to pass slower as the winter months had closed in, and everyone had started hustling to get back to the lodge a bit earlier each night. Even so, with a thin layer of snow on the ground, and even more falling to signal that the night was only bound to get colder, Lacey had taken a walk to the docks after selling, just to take some time to think.
She didn't know if she would be able to pay for Christmas presents that year - things had been especially slow lately, as they always got when people were in a rush to get home before the snowfall in the evenings would get too intense. Perhaps it would be a sad Christmas after all.

Opera had been visiting her little brother, and now she disembarked from the ferry. during the day she would gladly walk the whole way, but at this hour, that was way to dangerous. "Lacey? how's youse doin'" she asked with a smile. trying to breath her hands warm, while waiting for her friends reply.

"Lacey? how's youse doin'"
Lacey's attention was drawn away by the sound of a familiar voice, relaxing ever so slightly upon recognizing the girl in front of her. "Hey, Opera." She greeted, looking her over once or twice. It seemed as though she was cold, and Lacey herself could feel her own fingers beginning to go slightly numb, even beneath her gloves.
"I'm fine, just thinkin'," Lacey responded softly, tilting her head, "You comin' back from somewhere?"

"I'm fine, just thinkin',"
Opera gave Lacey a understanding nod.
"You comin' back from somewhere?"
Opera's face turned a bit sad. "Speer Cemetery, i was visiting my brother." "i bought a card for him, and a sigar for his mystery selling partner." she pulled out a drawing from her coat pocket. a red ribbon tied around it "this is what Frank looked like just before he passed away." she sighed before continuing "He was about 3 years younger, the last time i saw him."
