Silky liked to think that she was good at being a newsie. She was good with people and she was personable, and she could be loud when she had to be. Plus, she loved to read, and she was quite good at it. Her vocabulary meant that she had gotten quite good with making up headlines. The only problem seemed to be finding a place where a bunch of other newsies hadn't already claimed.
Standing in line, Silky glanced over the top of the crowd and huffed. There was still quite a while to go, and she was slowly beginning to feel as though her breakfast of a small piece of bread wasn't going to get her comfortably through the morning as it normally had. Groaning ever so slightly, Silky ran her fingers through her hair and did her best to remain in the positive state of mind that she typically had.

Pepper was feeling frustrated. She couldn’t seem to find any good headlines to get people to buy her papers. She had flipped through the paper over ten times it felt like. Still, she could not find anything that would be worth selling. Pepper was thoroughly frustrated. She was on her way to the lodge to call it quits when she heard a crusted groan. Apparently, she was not the only one who was having difficulty. She recognized her fellow newsie Silky.
“Having a hard day too?”
