"I'm sure. I trust you."
Mush grinned brightly. She trusted him. That was always a good sign that he was doing something right. "'M glad."
"I, I'm interested. But um... he won't mind? We won't... be interruptin' anything?"
He quickly shook his head, not wanting her to worry about something like that, especially with Blink. Blink was a people person, and no matter what he was doing, he always loved adding onto his crowd of friends.
"No, we'll be fine. I always hang around 'im after work is done for the day, so he's always free. He'll really like ya." He smiled.

"'M glad."
Mousey nodded, smiling back at him. It was a good feeling to know that you could trust someone. It was a feeling she hadn't had in a very long time.
"No, we'll be fine. I always hang around 'im after work is done for the day, so he's always free. He'll really like ya."
She looked quite relieved to hear that. The last thing she wanted to do was butt in Blink's business. If Mush said it was fine, then she was more than eager to meet his friend. "Okay... I, I hope I like him too," she added shyly.

"Okay... I, I hope I like him too."
Mush laughed, "You'll love 'im." He smiled. "Anyway, we should probably get some more sellin' done, so that we can get out ta lunch at a normal time. Let's get to it." He grinned, wrapping an arm around her once again.

"You'll love 'im."
Mousey smiled. She really loved Mush's laugh. But she had to disagree with him. She doubted she could love Blink as much as she did Mush. Though, there was no way she'd voice that aloud!
"Anyway, we should probably get some more sellin' done, so that we can get out ta lunch at a normal time. Let's get to it."
Her cheeks were pink as he wrapped an arm around her and she nodded. "Y-yeah..."
This was going to be quite a day of selling, but for once she didn't mind. She had a friend by her side and a lunch to look forward to.

"Y-yeah..."
Mush grinned brightly, not wasting any time before getting back to selling with her. Within about an hour and a half, Mush was left with only ten papers left to sell after lunch, and they had sold all of Mousey's within probably ten minutes.
"Ya ready ta head off ta Tibby's?" He beamed brightly, quite excited to get something to eat, his own stomach having begun to make noises about half an hour prior. Of course, it had led to more sales, but it was also quite hard to keep ignoring and working through. He just hadn't had any breakfast that day, being as late as he was.

Mousey felt a little shocked when they finished selling her papers. Time had gone by so fast! She had never been able to sell so fast. It was odd. She could barely wrap her mind around it.
"Ya ready ta head off ta Tibby's?"
She nodded shyly. She was getting really hungry. Her stomach had been giving alot of complaints. "Mhmm."

"Mhmm."
Mush grinned slightly, removing his arm from around her slowly. "Ya were real good out there." He commented. She had been a natural at selling and acting in such a way, and he assumed that it had something to do with how shy she was naturally. She had a charisma about her that people couldn't resist giving in to.

"Ya were real good out there."
Mousey's cheeks reddened. "Ah well... it was all thanks ta you," she smiled up at him. "I couldn't have done it by myself."
She had been to shy to try out any new ways of selling. After today, she didn't think she could sell the way she used to. It was now a far away memory of how she used to sell. She was... a new person almost. She was still the shy, quiet mouse, but now she finally had a little bit of the courage she had been striving for.

"Ah well... it was all thanks ta you,"
Mush shook his head, "Ya really gotta give yourself more credit. I didn't do anythin' besides sit there and hold onto ya. Ya sold your papes. Ya made some pretty good money taday. I think tamorrow ya could get even more papes. Like twenty five or thirty." He shrugged.
"I couldn't have done it by myself."
He sighed softly, walking with her silently, his remaining papes tucked under his arm. "Ya could've done it eventually, but ya needed a little push 'n' someone ta be there with ya. I'm glad that I was there ta see ya change so much in such a short amount of time."

"Ya really gotta give yourself more credit."
Mousey shrugged. She really didn't think she did that much. Mush was the one who gave her courage. He had given her the thing she could have never given herself, so she couldn't take any credit.
"I didn't do anythin' besides sit there and hold onto ya. Ya sold your papes. Ya made some pretty good money taday. I think tamorrow ya could get even more papes. Like twenty five or thirty."
She brightened some and nodded a little. "I think twenty-five would be good for tamorrow." Just one step at a time, after all. but she could do it, now that she had courage.
"Ya could've done it eventually, but ya needed a little push 'n' someone ta be there with ya. I'm glad that I was there ta see ya change so much in such a short amount of time."
She bit her lip. "I don't know about eventually... if I didn't have you," she said honestly. "I... I didn't have any courage," she explained, surprising herself at how much she was sharing. She supposed it was because Mush was so sweet and trustworthy. "But... but I think you gave me some courage."

"I think twenty-five would be good for tamorrow."
Mush was quite happy to hear that she was confident with the idea of getting more papers the next day, considering it meant that he was succeeding in helping her to trust her own natural abilities. She was a good newsie, after all - she just hadn't known before that day how to work as well as she could with the skills that she had.
"I don't know about eventually... if I didn't have you."
He laughed, "That's why ya got me. I'm for ya whenever I can be. I'll be here until I can't be anymore." He shrugged slightly. He didn't have high hopes of ever being able to leave.
"I... I didn't have any courage, but... but I think you gave me some courage."
A crooked grin formed on Mush's features at that. He had given someone courage. He had actually made her feel more confident with herself, and he was proud of that. He had never done it before.
"You're givin' me courage, too, ya know," He added, "I don't talk ta a ton of newsies that I don't know. I do if they look uncomfortable or new or somethin', but I normally don't just jump into conversations... Especially not with goils. I'm no good at talkin' ta goils."

"That's why ya got me. I'm for ya whenever I can be. I'll be here until I can't be anymore."
Mousey's eyes widened a bit at his last sentence. Until he can't be anymore? She didn't like the sound of that. She didn't want him to leave... ever. "You... you wouldn't leave... wit-without saying goodbye, would you?" she asked barely above a whisper.
She couldn't bare the thought of him leaving, much less leaving without a goodbye. It would be like being abandoned by her parents all over again.
"You're givin' me courage, too, ya know."
She looked at him surprise. She gave him courage? But how? She didn't have any before. "I gave you courage? But... I didn't have any to give?" she asked puzzled.
"I don't talk ta a ton of newsies that I don't know. I do if they look uncomfortable or new or somethin', but I normally don't just jump into conversations... Especially not with goils. I'm no good at talkin' ta goils."
She blushed some and smiled softly. "I think... I think you talk jus' fine wit' me... and goils."

"You... you wouldn't leave... wit-without saying goodbye, would you?"
Mush quickly shook his head, "'Course not. I ain't leavin' for a few years, anyway. I'm just sixteen. I won't stop bein' a newsie until I have ta." He shrugged a bit.
"I gave you courage? But... I didn't have any to give?"
He smiled sadly at her words, shaking his head. "Ya didn't think that ya had any ta give. I know that you're braver than ya think. Ya just don't know how ta express it."
"I think... I think you talk jus' fine wit' me... and goils."
He nearly burst out laughing. "No, I ain't good at talkin' ta goils. I talk way too much. I'm too mushy and romantic. I either flirt too much or not at all, even if I'm interested. I just get awkward around 'em." He shrugged a bit. Blink told him that it was normal, and he believed him wholeheartedly.

"'Course not. I ain't leavin' for a few years, anyway. I'm just sixteen. I won't stop bein' a newsie until I have ta."
Mousey let out a sigh of relief. She didn't think she could handle another abandonment situation. She cocked her head when he mentioned his age. "Sixteen? You're only a year older than me," she commented.
"Ya didn't think that ya had any ta give. I know that you're braver than ya think. Ya just don't know how ta express it."
She was still confused, but she liked the thought that she was braver than she even thought. "Braver than I think..."
"No, I ain't good at talkin' ta goils. I talk way too much."
She immediately shook her head. "You don't talk too much. Not at all," she insisted shyly. "I, I like it when you talk."
"I'm too mushy and romantic. I either flirt too much or not at all, even if I'm interested. I just get awkward around 'em."
Mousey blushed a little. She was a little of a romantic herself, so she certainly didn't mind if he was mushy and romantic. "I don't think you're awkward at all... I like," her face turned a darker shade of pink. "Mushy and romantic..."

"Sixteen? You're only a year older than me."
Mush grinned. "That's good ta know for the future." Of course, if he ever chose to ask Mousey on a date or something, things would be slightly further along in their friendship - he figured, at least. But at least he knew for sure that she didn't just look older than she was and she was actually like twelve or something.
"Braver than I think..."
The boy nodded, grinning proudly at how he had managed to make himself sound. He sounded real smart for once, and he was gonna have to tell the boys about it later.
"You don't talk too much. Not at all. I, I like it when you talk."
Another blush formed on his cheeks, although he laughed it off as best he could. "I like it when ya talk, too. Ya sound so shy but you're real smart behind all of that, too."
"I don't think you're awkward at all... I like, mushy and romantic..."
Mush figured that he had officially beaten a record that day with how much he was blushing. It was strange and confusing, but at the same time, it was slightly comforting, as well. "Thanks." He mumbled.

"That's good ta know for the future."
Mousey nodded and smiled, not really sure what Mush meant by that, but pleased that the two were close in age. It made things nice. It would have been a little awkward if Mush had been much older than her.
"I like it when ya talk, too. Ya sound so shy but you're real smart behind all of that, too."
"Oh..." She blushed at his compliments. "Ah well... Ms. Campbell says I'm smart too, jus' never really thought about it."
"Thanks."
She beamed up at him. "You're very welcome." She ducked her head some, secretly smiling to herself. She thought Mush's blushing was so cute and sweet.

"Ah well... Ms. Campbell says I'm smart too, jus' never really thought about it."
Mush grinned. "I say Ms. Campbell is real smart, too, then. She seems ta see a lot of good things in ya. I think they're all true." He beamed a bit.
"You're very welcome."
He wasn't given a chance to respond before Tibby's came into view, his eyes lighting up at the sight. "Let's eat!" He grinned leading her to the door and holding it open for her.

"I say Ms. Campbell is real smart, too, then. She seems ta see a lot of good things in ya. I think they're all true."
Mousey was flushing with pleasure as she nodded in agreement. "Ms. Campbell is somethin' else."
"Let's eat!"
She looked up to see Tibby's ahead of them. She grinned back at Mush and nodded. "Thanks again for all this," she shyly mentioned as the two slipped in to find some seats.

"Ms. Campbell is somethin' else."
Mush nodded briefly in agreement, a small grin still present on his lips and lighting up his features, along with the slightest hint of a blush on his cheeks.
"Thanks again for all this."
He shrugged, "It's the least I could do for ya. You've given me no reason ta not treat ya ta a nice lunch." He smiled a bit, leading her to an open table and sitting down, rather happily, as well. It felt as though it had been forever since he had last sat somewhere.

"It's the least I could do for ya. You've given me no reason ta not treat ya ta a nice lunch."
Mousey smiled shyly as she sat across from him. "Well, I want ta thank you still."
She managed to keep her stomach quiet as she looked over the menu. Everything sounded so good. She wasn't sure what to choose.
She peeked over her menu and looked at Mush. "Hey," she whispered. "What are you gettin'?"

"Well, I want ta thank you still."
Mush smiled faintly, nodding and shrugging as he picked up the menu. "Well, you're welcome. Thank you." He grinned back at her, a slightly cheeky expression present on his features.
"What are you gettin'?"
The grin only widened, leaning across the table and pointing to what he always got on her menu. "It's like a sandwich, but it has a ton of everything. It's real good. People also really like this, though." He replied, pointing to the thing apparently called a "pig-in-blanket." He thought that it was a weird name, although he had tried a little bit of it before, and it really wasn't bad.
"All of the food here's real good, though. It's hard ta decide on just one thing."

Mousey smiled back. "You're very very welcome," she giggled softly.

She looked over at what he was planning on getting. It sounded pretty good to her. She might have to try it.
"All of the food here's real good, though. It's hard ta decide on just one thing."
She nodded in agreement. "There are alot of choices..." She glanced over the menu once more before deciding to get the same as Mush. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to come back to Tibby's any time soon, so she wanted to try out his suggestion now.

"You're very very welcome."
Mush grinned. Mousey was sweet to say the absolute least, and he adored it. He just hoped that she was treated well by the other girls, as well, considering she did seem to be quite shy. Maybe he could find her some more friends besides just him and Blink. If not, then he would be happy to have her, he just felt bad not knowing if she had anyone else. Him and Blink weren't the best choices to talk about things like girl problems and cute guys with.
"There are a lot of choices..."
He nodded, smiling a bit as the waiter came over to take their drink order. Mush glanced at the amount of money that he had before shrugging. "Just water, please. What about you?" He turned his attention to Mousey, although not before he caught the waiter shooting him a wink.
"Treat 'er good, eh, boy?" He replied, a deep blush immediately returning to Mush's cheeks. "I-It's not like that..."

"Just water, please. What about you?"
Mousey ducked behind her menu shyly when the waiter came over. "Ah... I'd like w-water as well," she whispered, remaining hidden from the waiter.
It wasn't that she was scared exactly. She was just a bit nervous coming in here. She was definitely very glad Mush was with her or she never would have the courage to squeak out what she wanted to order.
"I-It's not like that..."
She peeked over the menu curiously, not catching what the waiter said. What was going on over there? She immediately ducked behind her menu when Mush and the waiter both caught her eye.

"Ah... I'd like w-water as well."
Mush grinned a bit as the waiter wrote down their orders and walked away, sending him another look that just screamed everything that he was thinking. Mush sighed, "He thinks we're on a date. It's no big deal." He shrugged it off, ignoring his own deep blush.
[I've gotta go for a bit, I'll be back ASAP.]
