"I'll be keeping that in mind,"
Mush scoffed, rolling his eyes playfully at the girl across from him and taking a sip of his water. "You'd better. I wouldn't want ya forgettin'." He shot her a playful wink, although it was accompanied by his blush deepening, which he assumed took away from how smooth and seemless it was supposed to be.
Soon enough, their food arrived, and Mush's eyes practically lit up at the sight of food that was more than just a piece of bread. That was what they got from the nuns basically every day, apparently left over from communion or something like that.

"You'd better. I wouldn't want ya forgettin'."
Mousey was blushing again. She was growing used to the feeling. "I'll do my best not ta," she promised, smiling back at his playfulness.
Her eyes brightened as well as the food arrived. It had been quite awhile since she had real food. Yesterday had been a small bit of cheese and stale crackers. So this was a real feast in her eyes.
"Thanks again." she said shyly before taking a bite of her sandwich.

"I'll do my best not ta."
Mush grinned a bit, silently beginning to eat his food without much hesitation at all. He was a lot of things, and while he was a boy who had been raised amongst a lot of sloppy eaters, Mush wasn't rude when it came to eating.
"Thanks again."
He shook his head, swallowing his bite of sandwich and sighing softly. "Ya don't have ta thank me. It's the least I could do if it made ya feel more comfortable and at home 'round here."

"Ya don't have ta thank me. It's the least I could do if it made ya feel more comfortable and at home 'round here."
Mousey nodded some. "I just wanted... wanted ta let you know how grateful I am."
She gave him another shy smile before she began nibbling her sandwich once more. She was savoring every bite. She might not be able to eat like this again soon, but then again she might. But she still didn't wait to waste a single moment or taste.

"I just wanted... wanted ta let you know how grateful I am."
Mush smiled a bit, the kind words being some of the first like them that he had heard in a long time. Not a ton of girls were kind to him, just mostly flirty and overly touchy. While he didn't mind it sometimes, other times it would get annoying.
"No problem. Really. I like makin' ya smile, so it's worth it for that." He shrugged, continuing to eat without another word, but with the sandwich making sure to mask the blush on his cheeks.

"No problem. Really. I like makin' ya smile, so it's worth it for that."
Mousey knew she was blushing, but she chose to ignore it as she continued eating her sandwich. After a couple of more nibbles, she glanced over at Mush and admitted quietly, "I like makin' you smile too."
She gave him another shy smile before focusing on her sandwich once more. This really had to be the best lunch she had ever had.

[Hey! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you, I've been grounded for a bit. I managed to snag a little bit of time on my phone and I'm off grounding tonight, so tomorrow and on I should be here more ] "I like makin' you smile too."Her words brought another grin to his lips, although it was slightly more bashful than anything else. He didn't know exactly how to describe the feelings that he had for Mousey at the moment, but there was no question in his mind that they were all good things. He continued eating, finishing quite quickly. He was a bit sad that it was gone, but he knew that he could come back there again in a month or so if he worked hard enough. If he kept selling with Mousey, he wouldn't have too much of a problem with that at all. She was a natural, and she hadn't even seemed to know that she was.

Mousey couldn't stop smiling throughout the lunch. This was definitely the best day she had ever had. She had sold twenty papers and got to eat at Tibby's! But best of all, she had made a friend that she hoped to have forever.
She glanced shyly over at Mush as she finished off her sandwich. It was so sweet of him to pay for the two of them. One of these says she certainly had to return the favor. She had no idea how she could, but she was sure she would be able to figure out something special to do for him.
((It's not problem. I'm sorry to hear you got grounded. I was kinda worried about you. XD It's good to have you back!))

[It's fine! It was a stupid little thing but I'm fine and everything haha. I'm sorry I couldn't get on to tell you sooner XD]
It didn't take long once Mush was done to set down the large sum of coins that he had on the table, beginning to count out the amount of pennies and nickels that he needed to pay for the meal. Eventually, he got the right amount, handing it to the waiter with a bright smile on his face. "Have a good day, the both of ya." The waiter beamed, shooting the pair one last wink before walking away.
Mush got up, pulling the seat out for Mousey quickly in an effort to be a gentleman in some sort of way. He shot her a grin, walking with her to the door and holding that open for her as well before walking out with her. "So I just have a few more ta sell, but I can sell 'em on our way back ta the lodgin' house. I want ya ta meet Blink and everyone." He grinned.

"Have a good day, the both of ya."Mousey blushed and gave the waiter a slight nod. "Th-thank you, sir. Have a good day as well." She was blushing once again as Mush pulled out her seat for her. "Thanks..." "So I just have a few more ta sell, but I can sell 'em on our way back ta the lodgin' house. I want ya ta meet Blink and everyone."She brightened at the mention of meeting his friend. She was definitely looking forward to the possibility of making a new friend. "How can I help?" If Mush could sell the last few faster, he would be able to introduce his new friend sooner. ((It's no problem really. Just glad to have you back!))

[Glad to be back! ] "Thanks..."Mush grinned, shrugging a bit and looking down at the ground, suddenly finding it quite interesting. "'S nothin'." "How can I help?"Mush shook his head, "I can sell 'em before we get back easy. It ain't that hard when the afternoon rush starts comin' in." He grinned crookedly, shouting out slightly altered headlines from the ones that actually existed as he walked with her. Sure enough, he sold two almost right off the bat.

"S' nothing."
Mousey gave him a light nudge and a smile. "It's something to me."
"I can sell 'em before we get back easy. It ain't that hard when the afternoon rush starts comin' in."
She cocked her head to the side, but didn't question him. After all, he would know alot more about that sort of thing that she did. Though, she really wished she could be of some help.

"It's something to me."
Mush wasn't entirely sure how to respond, especially once his cheeks turned bright red and he suddenly found himself unable to form words. He cleared his throat, shrugging a bit in an attempt to play it off, although he figured that it was quite obvious how flushed he was.
It didn't take too long for him to sell off the rest of his papers once the real rush of people leaving work came along, and sure enough, the boy's lodging house soon came into view. "Ya ready?"

Mousey was slightly surprised at how fast Mush was able to sell his last few papers, but then again, he had alot more experience than she had.
"Ya ready?"
She nodded a little nervously and gave him a small smile. "I think so."
She was a little nervous about approaching the boys' lodge but eager to meet a possible new friend.

"I think so."
Mush was actually quite excited to bring Mousey in to meet Blink and some of the others, so he quickly grabbed her hand and walked with her into the lodging house, hoping that the hand holding things wasn't awkward. He just wanted her to feel safe.
Upon entering, it was quite easy for him to find his eye patch-wearing friend, and he perked up at the sight. "Blink!"

"Blink!"
Blink glanced up briefly from counting his coins, practically jumping down from his bunk and making his way to Mush. "'Ey, Mushie." He grinned brightly, only then realizing that Mush was holding hands with a girl.
He raised an eyebrow at the sight, glancing between the girl and Mush. "Ya got a goil then, Mush?"

A slight blush crept up her face as Mush grabbed her hand and led her into the lodge. It was slightly awkward but rather comforting to have him hold her hand. If he hadn't, she would have felt as if she were barging in. His hand around hers made her feel safe and welcomed into this new place.
She brightened as Mush spotted his friend.
"Ya got a goil then, Mush?"
Mousey's eyes widened and her face turned red at Blink's words. "Ah... um... Hi, I'm Mousey?" she squeaked out.
She felt that she should say something... though introducing herself like that hadn't exactly been what she planned.

"Ah... um... Hi, I'm Mousey?"
Blink broke out into a bright grin at the girl's words, his gaze shifting between Mousey and Mush. "Great ta meet ya! I'm Kid Blink... Or just Blink, if ya like. It doesn't really matter ta me." He grinned.
"Ya wanna come sit down? Not a lot of the guys are back yet so the bunks are open."

"Ya got a goil then, Mush?"
Mush's cheeks went bright red, and he quickly broke eye contact with Blink, his gaze shooting to the ground. "It ain't how ya mean it, Blink. I met 'er in line for papes this mornin'."
"Ya wanna come sit down? Not a lot of the guys are back yet so the bunks are open."
Mush chuckled a bit, shrugging and turning his gaze to the girl beside him. "Ya wanna sit down?"

Mousey smiled shyly. "It, it's nice to meet you... Blink."
"Ya wanna come sit down? Not a lot of the guys are back yet so the bunks are open."
She blushed at the thought of sitting where the boys slept, but Kid Blink was inviting... so it must be okay? She glanced over at Mush for to confirm whether it was all right or not.
"Ya wanna sit down?"
She nodded, brightening up some. So it was okay to sit in the bunkroom.

"It, it's nice to meet you... Blink."
Blink grinned brightly, "She's a shy one, ain't she, Mush?" He raised an eyebrow. Mush wasn't so much shy as he was just quiet and soft spoken. Mush was also known for his naive personality, so he figured that even if the girl ever did have feelings for him, it was going to take Mush quite a bit longer to realize it than it would take anyone else.
"Nice ta meet ya too." He smiled, leading her over to one of the beds and sitting down, patting the spot beside him. "So what's the real story about the pair o' ya meetin'?"

"Nice to meet ya too."
Mousey's face brightened and sat down beside Mush. That seemed rather promising. He thought it was nice to meet her. Maybe that meant that they could be friends as well.
"So what's the real story about the pair i' ya meetin'?
She gave Blink a confused look. "Real story?" She looked over at Mush, still puzzled. "But Mush just did?"

"Real story? But Mush just did?"
Blink rolled his eye slightly, laughing a bit. "There are more details than that. How did he meet ya in line? Where have ya been all day? Why did ya come in holdin' hands like ya were lovers or somethin'?" He asked, ignoring the deep blush and slightly frustrated glare that he was earning from the slightly younger boy.
"Those are the little details that Mushy leaves outta thin's like this. He never tells the whole story the first time around."

"She's a shy one, ain't she, Mush?"
Mush's glare was shooting daggers right at Blink as he continued speaking, continuing to block out the negative glare in true Blink fashion. Blink was the type who truly didn't care what other people thought, and while sometimes it was great, it was also a bit hard to get him to take things seriously at times.
"Yeah, shy's cute." He mumbled under his breath.
"There are more details than that. How did he meet ya in line? Where have ya been all day? Why did ya come in holdin' hands like ya were lovers or somethin'?"
"Blink-" He began, although he didn't really know what he had been planning on saying. He received a raised eyebrow in return, and Mush just sighed and buried his face into his hands. "You're gonna scare 'er, Blink. She ain't used ta people."

"There are more details than that. How did he meet ya in line? "
Mousey was still confused. "He bumped into me..."
"Where have ya been all day?"
She glanced at Mush, wondering if Kid Blink was always like this. It made a her a little uncomfortable with him asking all these questions all at once. Had she done something wrong?
"We... we were out sellin' together?"
"Why did ya come in holdin' hands like ya were lovers or somethin'?"
Her face flushed red. "L-lovers?!"
She and Mush weren't like that, were they? No, they couldn't be. They had only met today. It was too soon for that, and even Mousey knew that! Love took time. She might like Mush awhole lot, but it wasn't love... yet.
"Those are the little details that Mushy leaves outta thin's like this. He never tells the whole story the first time around."
She stared at her hands, not sure how to respond to that. She didn't think that Mush left out any important details. Their meeting had been rather simple. He bumped into her and then they went selling together. That was all.
