Well, I heard he comes through Bronx sometimes. Maybe you'll bump into him today?
Sand shrugged a bit. "Yeah...I might..." She looked down a bit. "Ya want me ta leave?" Sand looked up at him wondering if she was taking the hint to leave or if he was just saying it as a fact. She sometimes had problems with this sort of thing and she never really knew what to do when she was confused like this. All she could do was ask and hope she didn't make things difficult.

"Yeah...I might... Ya want me ta leave?"
Blondie cocked his head. "Do you want to leave?" he asked carefully. He wasn't pushing her to stay or leave. Whatever she wanted was fine with him. He just knew that she probably would need to figure out who Ace was, so they could have a better contact for what was going on in Queens. Besides, it would always be good to know about how the Jersey newsies were doing. They were just right across the river. They could have useful information and become great allies.

"Do you want to leave?"
"I dunno...might wanna go lookin for whoever Ace is..." Sand said looking at her feet. "Ya probably wanna be left alone anyway."

"I dunno...might wanna go lookin for whoever Ace is..."
Blondie nodded some. "Yeah..."
"Ya probably wanna be left alone anyway."
He pursed his lips. "Never said that... I don't mind company at all."

Yeah...Never said that... I don't mind company at all.
Sand smiled a bit. "Good...I missed ya a bit." She smiled sheepishly looking down.

"Good...I missed ya a bit."
Blondie felt his face redden as he cleared his throat. "Y-you missed me?"
It was odd to think that someone would miss him. He supposed his housekeeper and possibly his parents missed him... but Sand? It was a little odd. He didn't really think he was someone to be missed. If he were a bird, he would understand being missed.

Y-you missed me?
Sand felt her face heat up. She didn't think it was that big of a deal but seeing his reaction made her feel less confident in her statement. Of course she missed him. Why wouldn't she? He was the closest thing to a best friend she had. "Is...is it bad that I missed ya or somethin?" She asked softly. Sand didn't think so but his reaction said otherwise.

"Is... is it bad that I missed ya or somethin?"
Blondie look surprised at her question and quickly answered, "No, no... I don't think it's bad. I just, um, didn't think anyone would really miss me."
He looked at her sheepishly. Despite having lived here for a couple of years, Blondie still felt like he didn't quite fit in with the newsies. He was still an outsider in some respects.

No, no... I don't think it's bad. I just, um, didn't think anyone would really miss me.
"Well why not?" Sand asked curiously. "Ya have been here for a long time. So why wouldn't I miss you?"

"Well why not?
Blondie shrugged. He didn't think he was the sort to be missed. After all, his parents hadn't exactly come looking for him.
"Ya have been here for a long time. So why wouldn't I miss you?"
He shrugged again. "I was only gone for about a day and a half... I'm not one of your birds, so I'm not really someone to be missed."

"You're my best friend...ya don't need to be a bird for me ta miss ya..."
Blondie felt his ears turn pink. "You... and me... are best friends?" he asked in surprise.
He had never thought they were that close. Good friends, yes, but best? He wasn't sure if he was best friend material. He had social skills, yes, but the classy sort not the friends and newsies sort.

You... and me... are best friends?
Sand felt her stomach drop hearing his question. Was it not obvious? "Course...I mean...it's not obvious...? I tell ya everything and when I get all crazy ya always make it better. And I trust ya..."

Blondie looked at her curiously. "Well... I kind of thought we were just good friends. I umm..." He blushed some and added shyly, "Didn't really think I was best friend material for anyone... much less you."

She didn't look up. "Do you...todo you not want to be my best friend...?"

"Do you...todo you not want to be my best friend...?"
Blondie stared hard at her. Had he made a mistake? He really wasn't good at this one on one friendships with newsies... "D-did I say that?" He felt extremely awkward and stupid. "I didn't mean to sound like I don't want you to be my friend... I just never thought I was that sort of person to be anyone's best friend."
He was floundering. Maybe he was using too many big words... Maybe it was his educated vocabulary that made things so difficult. Or maybe... It was just being a rich kid that was the problem. It looked like he might just have to go back to where he came from.

Sand shook her head a bit. "Ya didn't say it...just...ya don't seem ta wanna. Making it sound like a bad thing or somethin..." She looked up at him and took a deep breathe. Sand took his hand in hers. "Well...turns out ya are my kind of best friend material." She said with a small smile and a faint blush. "That alright with ya?" She asked softly watching him hoping she didn't screw anything up.

"Ya didn't say it...just...ya don't seem ta wanna. Making it sound like a bad thing or somethin..."
Blondie was relieved that he hadn't said that. He would have hated to have said that and not known it. Though, he was surprised that it seemed like he didn't want to be a friend. "I... I didn't meant that at all."
"Well...turns out ya are my kind of best friend material. That alright with ya?"
His face was bright red when she took his hand. He practically squeaked, "Y-yeah. It's fine with me."

I... I didn't meant that at all.
"I'm sorry I just assume things." She said softly. "I'm glad ya didn't say it..." Sand said with a faint smile.
Y-yeah. It's fine with me.
She pulled her hands back hearing his voice. That was a good sounding pitch. She's done something wrong. "I didn't wanna make ya red like that..."she said quietly taking in his completion. "I just...I want ya ta know I appreciate ya."

"I'm sorry I just assume things. I'm glad ya didn't say it..."
Blondie gave her a small smile. "It's okay... and I'm glad I didn't say it too."
"I didn't wanna make ya red like that... I just...I want ya ta know I appreciate ya."
He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. His face was still rather red. "It's... it's fine really. I just... um didn't expect that is all."

Sand smiled some and looked down feeling a small blush.
It's... it's fine really. I just... um didn't expect that is all.
"Still...I'm sorry..." She said softly. "Ya shouldn't be red and I'm makin ya red..."

"Still...I'm sorry...Ya shouldn't be red and I'm makin ya red."
Blondie shook his head. "It's fine... really. You didn't know I'd turn red. I mean, I didn't know I'd turn red when you said that." He shook his head again. "It's fine really."
He gave her a small smile. "So how did things go here while I was gone?"
Bronx probably didn't change that much since he had come and gone. It was a quiet borough, so nothing would happen between two days. At least, nothing big would have happened. But still, Blondie would like to hear from Sand if anything interesting happened.

It's fine... really. You didn't know I'd turn red. I mean, I didn't know I'd turn red when you said that. It's fine really.
Sand nodded a bit. She didn't mean too but she certainly didn't want him to be red.
So how did things go here while I was gone?
She shrugged. "Nothin changed really. Same old Bronx."

"Nothin changed really. Same old Bronx."
Blondie nodded. It wasn't that surprising. Since Bronx was such a small borough, things just didn't happen. That was made it so nice. It was calm, and most newsies were friendly. Nothing to complain about here.
"That's good to hear." Ace had said Rip wasn't planning on attacking Bronx, but it was relieving to know for sure that nothing had happened while he was gone. "I'm sure it will stay that way."

Sand nodded. "That's good. Better to stay the same for us I think." She said with a soft smile.
