"That's good. Better to stay the same for us I think."
Blondie nodded again, smiling some. "Yeah, I like Bronx staying the same. Change isn't always bad, but it isn't something I like."

Sand smiled and looked over at him a bit. "Yeah...I don't much like change either...but its sometimes has ta happen..."

"Yeah...I don't much like change either...but its sometimes has ta happen..."
Blondie made a slight face. "Yeah... Just wish it didn't have to happen. At least," he pursed his lips some. "At least it doesn't happen too often here in Bronx."
He almost said that was why he liked Bronx better than Harlem, but he caught himself in time. There was no way he could let that slip up. If Sand and the others knew he was from Harlem, they would start asking questions which could lead up to another slip up that he could most definitely not do! It would be the end of things if they knew who he really was.

Yeah... Just wish it didn't have to happen. At least, At least it doesn't happen too often here in Bronx.
Sand nodded in agreement. "It's part of what I love bout Bronx...that and it's so easy to relax when you have the time. It's not as busy as everywhere else..." She looked over at him. He seemed to have something on his mind. It looked like it was troubling him. He had that slight worried look on his face. Sand didn't like seeing it there. "Blondie...you ok?" She asked softly watching him closely.

"It's part of what I love bout Bronx...that and it's so easy to relax when you have the time. It's not as busy as everywhere else..."
Blondie nodded in agreement. "Yeah... it's really nice not to be busy like the other boroughs."
"Blondie...you ok?"
He looked at her in surprise. "Huh? I mean yeah... I'm fine." He had been thinking to deeply... "I was um just thinking that's all."
He chuckled some, hoping to cover his worry. It really was nothing to worry about. He had caught himself in time.

Yeah... it's really nice not to be busy like the other boroughs.
Sand nodded and leaned back a bit before leaning forward.
Huh? I mean yeah... I'm fine. I was um just thinking that's all.
Sand raised an eyebrow. "Blondie...you know ya can talk to me about anything...right?" She asked softly.

"Blondie...you know ya can talk to me about anything...right?"
He nodded in a somewhat distracted manner. "Yeah, of course."
Blondie couldn't tell her about his past. What would she think of him? There were countless other things that she didn't need to know about him. He didn't want things to change.
"I was just thinking about Mr. Reed's log book," he lied. "I can't remember if I signed in and out the other day or not." He gave her an exaggerated shrug. "He's going to have my hide if I forgot to sign back in."

Yeah, of course.
He didn't seem all there in his response. Maybe he just didn't want to talk about it? She would leave it be for now.
I was just thinking about Mr. Reed's log book, I can't remember if I signed in and out the other day or not. He's going to have my hide if I forgot to sign back in.
It bothered her that he felt he had to lie to her but she knew some things were left forgotten. So she let go of her fear he was lying to her. "Yeah he is pretty strict on da log book. I'm sure ya can fix it though." Sand said with a soft smile.

"Yeah he is pretty strict on da log book. I'm sure ya can fix it though."
Blondie chuckled softly. "Yeah, he's really strict. It's crazy sometimes." He shook his head some. "Hopefully, I can fix it without Mr. Reed noticing that I fixed it."
He gave Sand a grin and headed toward the front desk. He probably had signed in and out, but he had been a hurry to get in bed last night so it was possible he had forgotten.

Sand smiled and nodded. "You're sneaky so I'm sure you're gunna be fine." She said as she followed him to the front desk.

"You're sneaky so I'm sure you're gunna be fine."
"You flatter me!" Blondie laughed as he pulled out the log book. "I'm not that sneaky."
At least, he wasn't sneaky like most newsies were. He wasn't good at pick-pocketing or anything like that. Not to mention, he had gotten on Mr. Reed's bad side quite a few times for trying to sneaking into his office to edit his log book. Though, Mr. Reed was a little nicer to him that some of the other boys.
He flipped open the log book. He made a slight face. Looks like he had missed logging back in.
"Where'd Mr. Reed put his pens?" he muttered.

You flatter me! I'm not that sneaky!
"Sneaky enough!" Sand said with a slight laugh.
Where'd Mr. Reed put his pens?
Sand started looking around the desk on the hunt for a pen. "Here's one!" She said pulling one out of a drawer.

"Sneaky enough!"
Blondie just gave her a cheeky grin. "If you say so."
"Here's one!"
His eyes lit up. "Nice!" He took the pen and quickly scribbled his name. He tried to forget all those penmanship classes he took. He needed to have a messier signature to blend with the other boys.

If you say so
"I do say so! You got through Queens easy enough." Sand smiled brightly.
Nice!
Sand blushed only the slightest. Watching as he wrote his name she smiled softly. "It's really nice the way ya write...like art..." Sand looked at him admiringly. It was beautiful.

"I do say so! You got through Queens easy enough."
He gave her a sheepish look as he ran his hand through his hair. It looked like a hair cut would be in his near future.
"It's really nice the way ya write...like art..."
Blondie blushed. "Ah well... you know practice makes perfect or something like that."

Sand smiled softly. "Yeah...it's something like that." She waited for him to pick the book away before saying anything else. "Blondie what ya say we look at the stars toinight?" Sand asked quizzically.

"Yeah...it's something like that."
He nodded and closed the log book as fast as he dared. He didn't want to Sand to think too much about his handwriting.
"Blondie what ya say we look at the stars tonight?"
His eyes brightened. He hadn't been able to enjoy the evening sky for the past couple of nights so he was eager to see the stars once more. And with Sand? How could he resist!
He did his best not to sound too enthusiastic. "Sounds great!"

Sounds great!
Sand smiled seeing the light in his eyes. He seemed so excited. "Perfect. I'll bring us up something case we get hungry and ya gotta bring your own blanket. No gettin sick on me." She said pointing her finger a bit scoldingly but smiling happily to counter act her pointing.

He gave her another sheepish grin. "Okay, I'll bring a blanket."
Blondie normally just sat on the roof with only a set of binoculars, but for Sand, he supposed he could bring a blanket. The evenings were starting to get a little chilly. And as if to prove it, he sneezed.

Okay, I'll bring a blanket."
Sand laughed a bit. "Now what did I just say about getting sick?" She poked him some. "I ain't having any of it."

"Now what did I just say about getting sick?"
He chuckled. "Heh heh... Dust in the air?"
Dust was definitely a possible cause for a sneeze with the way his allergies acted up.
"I ain't having any of it."
Blondie crossed his heart solemnly. "I won't get sick. I promise!"

Heh heh... Dust in the air?
Sand smiled some feeling relaxed for the first time in a while. "It's a bit dusty in here. Ya boys need to clean." She smiled.
I won't get sick. I promise!
She laughed as he crossed his heart. "Good. Ya ain't no good to me sick."

"Good. Ya ain't no good to me sick."
He felt his cheeks turn a slight pink. "Ah... well, I'll try not to get sick."

"Alright." She smiled a bit. "Ya want me ta leave ya alone? Rest before we go look at stars?"

"Yeah I guess. Ya want me ta leave ya alone? Rest before we go look at stars?"
Blondie cocked his head some before shaking it. "No, I think I slept enough for the day. But ummm..." He bit his lip. "I do need to stop by and pick up something. I ordered something at the general store."
